This ground beef hot dog sauce is an authentic Greek hot dog sauce from a restaurant in my home town. This recipe brings back a lot of memories. The Greek hot dog sauce is just in time for those Super Bowl parties. This hot dog topper is easy to make and delicious. Enjoy.

The coneys we had as kids came from a small shop ran by a family from Greece. I've been looking at coney recipes for a long time and all have been nothing but glorified chili sauce and not true coney sauce, this is it exactly what I remember a coney dog is, thank you for sharing this.

Absolutely works like a dream. I use less chili powder and add another tbsp of paprika and three tbsp of cumin. This recipe allows for flavor variation, but the texture is what makes it perfect.

I like the simplicity of this one. The Greek guy who suggested cinnamon might be on to something. I'm trying it both ways. As a kid in Jersey I loved the local Greek meat sauce on my hotdog.

Quick and easy, I will have to try this one Tess. That tip at first about the ground beef and water, that's the secret to Cincinnati style chili. Hot dog sauces in the north east are a big deal, they vary not only from state to state but county to county, city to city. Where I lived, Kingston NY, the big one was Texas Hot Weiner sauce. Most of these are known as "Greek Hot Dog Sauces" because they are usually found at the many diners owned by Greek families.

Tom, yes, it does vary by region. This is a Greek diner and surprisingly is still in business. I remember the day my Mom clipped this recipe from the newspaper...she was so excited and our family (only my sister and I left) still make it today. Thanks so much for watching.

OMG I cannot believe this find. I grew up in Southern New Jersey and they had a small dinner downtown--I believed called Texas Winnie. (??) They had these hot dogs with some sauce and mustard. I also thought they came from Texas. Eventually, they closed and I have never seen them sense. (and now I am 68) This had to be what this one. If I remember correctly the gentleman was a Greek. I am going to try and make this for myself. Thank you

Best thing about making it yourself is you know what is in it. Most coney places today - even though they say its the same 50 to 100 year old recipe - they add textured vegetable protein (TVP) as a soybean filler. Definitely not original. This looks good and simple.
