Thank you for this recipe and the step by step instructions! I rarely cook Haitian food but now that Im married to a non Haitian I want to enhance my cooking skills. I made this for dinner and the family loves it!

I literally watched 10 videos of rice and peas and none of them looked good like yours. I will be making this tomorrow with some grilled chicken and vegetables. DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely love this! I tried it and almost got it! I have a question. I can only find canned pigeon peas. Any suggestions on using canned vs frozen?

If your using the frozen, boil it for about 30 minutes on medium heat. Use the same liquid to cook your rice. If using can, no need to boil , use water following my steps, your rice will come out delicious.

Thanks for watching!! I start on high, once liquid reduces, turn stove to a medium low ( which is a #2).

Jada Smith .... Eyeballing comes with experience but you can use the 2 to 1 ratio, meaning 2 cups of water to every one cup of rice.

How do you know it’s enough rice by eye balling it?

Eyeballing comes with many years of cooking! In culinary school we were told 1 cup rice to every 2 cups of water, I have never tried it. I used my method and my rice comes out perfect all the time.

The reason I show and mention each ingredients s because I do not write them in description below. I also mentioned on the video that I do not use measurements. My suggestion will be to use rice to water ratio on Rice package. Thanks for the thumbs up!

YES, IK THAT YOU SAY THE INGREDIENTS IN THE VIDEO, HOWEVER, IT’S KINDA HARD TO KEEP UP WITH THE LIST OF THINGS USED IF YOU (THE VIEWER) HAVE TO KEEP PAUSING THE VIDEO TO WRITE THE INGREDIENTS DOWN. I wanted to suggest the same thing. But I didn’t want it to come off as me being mean or something. lol I agree with the original commenter. Also, it helps so that the viewer can check their cabinets and/or grocery shop for the ingredients before watching the video. 😄

WHERE DID YOU BUY THE JASMINE RICE FROM? I BUY MADAME GOUGOUSSE. OMGEEEEEE I NEVER THOUGHT TO LOOK WHERE IT WAS IMPORTED FROM? I HOPE THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN EATING PLASTIC RICE. I’m surprised you didn’t use parboiled rice, they don’t get sticky easily but you have to use enough water
