Part one of a two part video series, where I take you through the process of creating gaming terrain for D&D using Hirst Arts silicone molds. This video covers the pouring of plaster floor and wall tiles, cutting of bases from foamboard and gluing the pieces in various configurations for use in a table top game. Part two, which will cover priming, painting and flocking of pieces, can be seen here: • How to Make Hirst Arts...

That's really appreciated, thank you. I see a lot of ways I could improve, so I'm glad you've enjoyed things. It's been a couple of months since I've uploaded a video, but I hope to get back to things soon.

You should do it! It adds a whole new element to the hobby. I'd be happy to help answer any questions. I've only been doing it for about a year, so I'm still learning myself. There are a lot of really good channels that have some great terrain. I'll be getting into making some foam terrain soon. I recently bought a set of hot foam knives. I'll begin posting videos about it over the next couple of months. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the question. No I haven't used one up to this point. I'm away for work quite a bit, so tiles I cast one weekend usually aren't seen again until a week later, so for my purposes the cardboard trays do an okay job of wicking away moisture. I plan to invest in more molds soon, so it may become necessary to speed up the drying process. My how-to video is designed to show people how tile production can be done relatively cheaply.

Thanks. It cost about $20 to have the local lumber-mart make it for me. I just described what I wanted. I bought the rubber pads for the bottom separately and put them on myself.

Michael's publishes a weekly flyer that you can see on their website. I also have the smartphone app (free) that contains the same weekly flyer. I just scan the coupon at the store to redeem it. Also, when you buy something from Michael's, the receipt usually has a coupon that you can use the following week. Hope that helps!

Have you tried using a food dehydrator for tile drying? I have seen other people using them and they seem to get good results.

do the wall pieces have their own foam base; do you then glue the wall pieces to the room base?

+dcsanders92 Hi, sorry for not seeing this comment before now. Yes, my individual wall pieces, in most cases, each have their own base.

Bruce Hirst produces the molds and he has his own website where they can be ordered. Google Hirst Arts and you should find it.
