Also, sometimes letting dry for 1 to 2 days can help. Can use grains, cereals or blend anything into a powder and add. Add a little raw meat for catfish. Try many flavors. Vanilla extract or jello flavors. But his is a basic/classic flavors. Those are good. But for fun make a few crazy ones, ya never know

I used to make them myself, and instead of boiling them you can put them in the microwave for 30 seconds and it will make them float. But I stopped using them altogether because of the super turtle swarms at all my local fishing spots. Had to switch over to fake corn.

Hey Ivo, Just placed my order for a couple of the new Thundermist Lure Company Sunhats. Glad to see them in the store! I've been trying my hand at Carp fishing and haven't been having much luck with corn. I've chummed the area and fished around the shady weed edges but no luck only a couple of bullhead catfish and the occasional turtle. I was hoping you might have some advice. I'll give these homemade boilies a try and see if I can finally hook into my first carp. Thanks

@thundermistlures9 жыл бұрын
andrew reckley Glad you like this video on making boilies and for catfish, we like to use fresh cut bait, such as cut sucker for example :)
@corkyvanderhaven33912 жыл бұрын
Big fan of raw chicken in Az, sometimes a little aged, like a week in the frig. Also, sometimes add strawberry jello. Those 2 are good cut bait substitutes. But catfish will definitely eat boilies. Instead of grain, rice, oats….add hamburger or shredded Chxn or fish to your boilies. Hair Rigs are great fish catchers. Big boilies keep little fish away. U can blend dry feed corn into mix as well. Lots of option once u get the dough thing down pat. All easy and fun and can’t screw up. If u do just use as method feeder or chum and try again. Very satisfying hobby making ur own fish bait. Can do in peace or chatting in kitchen. Requires no skill. But, if ya make 100, make 4 or 5 or 10 flavors
@Gaunt8779 жыл бұрын
I tried the boilies but they do not stay on the hook or the hair. Did I make them wrong? They are loose and not very hard.

Anglers have been making and using boilies in the UK for quite a long time, baits have been developed, improved and refined by thousands of hours of trial and error. Instead of using ordinary flour which is bland and sticky we typically use a mixture of ingredients such as fine semolina, fishmeal, soya flour, fine cornmeal, crushed hempseed, birdfood, milk powder etc to make dough which rolls easily when added to the wet ingredients and boilies which last well in the water, are easily (and eagerly) digested by the fish and provide better nutrition, flavour and attraction. Carp bait has effectively become a subject/industry in its own right with companies dedicated to developing, manufacturing and marketing high quality boilies.
@thundermistlures10 жыл бұрын
Great to hear from you in the UK and thanks for the great carp boilie tips :)
@Beesa1010 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks, I like to get tips from other anglers and incorporate some of these things in to my own fishing. I learned about 'drop shotting' a technique I think came from the US which is good for perch fishing in the UK. Carp certainly do love corn, artificial (rubber) corn is quite popular here as a hook bait.

cornmeal works better. but you still need to put some flour in there as catalyst. or if you have old corn leftovers from fishing. just put it in a blender and mix with flour. This video is a basic boilie making that teaches people to make use of some household left overs cornflakes, cereals, rice etc. very educational.

Just so you know. Boilies are for hair rigs . not directly on the hook
@thundermistlures10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for writing in William and good luck on the water fishing with boilies :)
@CubbyCPie7 жыл бұрын
I've caught many carp with broilies straight on the hook.. Hair rigs are just a type of set up.. Broilies just stay on a hair rig better! As long as they suck up the bait and don't spit it back out then you have the fish! Just so you know.. Both ways work! Haha there's always more than one way!

@phillipholland622510 жыл бұрын
I dont think its a boilie but ive had alot of luck on it lol... In a 5 gallon bucket, Mix 1 large container of old fashioned oats, 1 bottle of (light) karo corn syrup and 1 6oz box of strawberry jello... make golf ball sized balls packed around a corn pop cereal.

Try semolina instead of flour
@thundermistlures7 жыл бұрын
Great tip - thanks :) I will give it a try
@DeejayNally7 жыл бұрын
Also try a 50/50 mix of semolina powder and soy flower as you'r base mix and then after that you can add you'r own extra ingredients.

Dear Evo, This is too hard and mess. Use cereals and Jello. That's easier. LOL. No mess.
@megasif10 жыл бұрын
correction; messy. I was serious tho....Shredded Wheat is the best.
@thundermistlures10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your boilie tips with us :)
@megasif10 жыл бұрын
***** Yeah, Shredded Wheat comes in baggies in the large sizes already, just add water and jello thru a hole. Throw the bag away when you done....also you can add anything while you are making the dough...like cereal corn flakes or oats....and stuff like peanut butter...but just SW and Jello will do the job for most your carps around the world. Wait til England gets a hold of this.
