How to make Hot Cross Buns | Easy | Easter Bun | Creole Bun | Belizean | Caribbean
In my family these delicious buns are a must! Making these perfectly soft and sweet buns take me back to my childhood days in Belize, especially around easter when the neighborhood smelled like a bakery. The amazing smell of all the spices and sweetness in these buns fulls the entire house and makes your heart happy!
Enjoy!
Recipe:
6 cups all purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar (you can use both white & brown, for a sweeter bun you can add more sugar as well)
2 tablespoons instant yeast
2 tablespoon brown sugar (to proof yeast)
2 large eggs
6 tablespoons soften butter
1 cup milk or coconut milk (warm) DO NOT use hot milk to proof yeast
3/4 cup evaporated milk (warm)
2 teaspoons Baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground all spice
2 teaspoon vanilla
11/2 cup white raisins (optional)
1/2 dried cranberries (optional)
Glaze:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup water
