Growing up we never used oil....... Lard always for frying beans and eggs, and most food. Yes oil for deep frying like taco shells and tostadas.

You can make them tasty. Add a Tablespoon or two of tomato sauce. Add a teaspoon of chicken bouillon. Fry in a bit of oil, mash, taste and adjust seasonings. I do this all the time and the beans are delicious. 🙋🏻‍♀️🕊️
