As a new subscriber binge-watching these amazing pieces, what stands out to me most so far is how warm and respectful the interviewees are, how passionate they are for their respective craft, how hard they work to keep it going, and their love of their country. I'm hopeful that Mr. Mendez was able to acquire the grinder that he wanted.

My mum made homemade curry, she added coriander, fenugreek, and cumin, along with the bird peppers, turmeric, allspice/pimento and a plant she used to call curry leaf. My family is from Santa Cruz St. Elizabeth.

Kwacou, your mother's curry powder sounds like the real thing. This gentleman's powder has the least ingredients of any Jamaican I have seen making this lovely spice. There is no recipe so you can't follow , but I think he is withholding many of the ingredients being used Not that it matters me, because he has to protect his livelihood.

I’m glad & love I’ve discovered your channel. No matter where we come from all of our sistren & breddren can trace our roots back to Mother Africa. The elder I take my hat off to his painstaking hard work. In New Orleans my hometown, we use the sassafras’s Plant to make Gumbo File’ ! Pronounced (GUM - BO FEE- LAY) . We sun dry the Sassafras’s & beat it until it’s a powder form to serve with our Famous dish File’ Gumbo. The Jamaican culture is so similar but different from New Orleans. Thanks for always sharing your content. And there’s no other like the Jamaican Curry.💯✔️

Masala spice itself is pretty involved. It contains coriander seeds, cumin seeds, cardamom seeds, fennel seeds, mustard seeds, peppercorns, cloves and red chili peppers, all heated in a dry skillet, then ground into a fine powder in a clean coffee or spice mill.

Such hard work i wish the government would get involved and help these elders in what ever ways they can,,. There's so many ways of living off the land and we have so much empty land in Jamaica, why can't they get some young people involve? This would help keep them out of trouble u just have to instill in them that the process might be hard but the rewards are great,

Absolutely wonderful video. Homemade products made with love and care is very much appreciated by many and usually better tasting than the industrialised products. Hip hip hooray to the good ole cottage industries. This only question I have sir is, is Jamaican Curry slightly different to Indian Curry? The only curry I really occasionally cook with is Bolts (Indian) but I’d love to try this Jamaican (homemade) recipe. Although I don’t really have curries at all often, the combination looks really interesting & flavoursome. I hope he also finds many patrons abroad. Sir, the way you keep repeating how - ‘it’s hard manual work’ & ‘it’s really hard work’ sounds real funny, particularly as they are self employed - it’s their business. Ok, thanks & Peace 😏🙏

These "old stories" are important lessons. Many of these lessons may seem strange, but today scientific research is validating them. Silver has been used to promote wound healing for thousands of years. Topical antimicrobial dressings, including those that contain silver, are used to prevent or manage infection in a wide range of wounds. Silver dressings are topical wound care products derived from ionic silver. These products release a steady amount of silver to the wound and provide antimicrobial or antibacterial action. The silver is activated from the dressing to the wound's surface based on the amount of exudate and bacteria in the wound. Even the NIH also supports the idea that colloidal silver can be an effective topical wound dressing.
