For the past 2 years, at least once a week (usually a Thursday), I have 8 to 10 tablespoons of peanut butter for dinner, and nothing else. It has never been a problem for me, and has never caused me to stall in my weight loss progress of 87 lbs to date. Because peanut butter - at least the natural one made without sugar - is low in carbs, and nearly a 1/3 of the carbs is fiber, and because it is high fat, it really satisfies my hunger even better than meat does. If I were on a strict budget, and could not afford meat, my diet would consist of no sugar peanut butter and lots of eggs.

Drake Santiago nice! Just be careful on Omega 6, which is in peanuts 🥜 and not having a balance between Omega 6 and Omega 3 can be inflammatory. You may not see it in you body or gaining weight, but it can afffect arteries, off course if you have a healthy lifestyle, having it eventually won’t hurt you, it’s so delicious. 👍🏻
@alphacause4 жыл бұрын
@@yesseniasaenz9035 Thanks for the advice. I wrote this comment over 3 years ago. Since then, I have read a lot more from low carb doctors and physicians, and listened to a lot more podcasts about this subject. Having now been enlightened about the deleterious effects of Omega 6s, especially those that are the product of seed oils, I now limit my consumption and rarely consume peanut butter. In case you are interested, Dr. Paul Saladino and Dr. Cate Shanahan did an interesting podcast together, where they recently discussed the harmful affects of seed oils, and how they maybe the culprit behind the very mitochondrial dysfunction that leads to insulin resistance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npOuc2ihdqaloZo

@@alphacause is it ok to use Rice Bran oil for cooking?
@alphacause4 жыл бұрын
@@bharatkhatwani9677 It all depends. If you are concerned about your omega 6 to omega 3 ratio, then I would refrain from using rice bran oil because it is way to high in omega 6. If you believe that ratio is seminal to good health, as many low carb doctors are now advocating - such as Dr. Paul Saladino, Dr. Cate Shanahan, Dr. Michael Eades and others - then I would refrain from using such oil. These physicians have, in the past few years, implicated this oil as the cause of both inflammation the mitochondrial dysfunction that they believe causes insulin resistance in the first place. If you think that omega 6 to omega 3 ratio is not that serious, then use any oil you prefer, including rice bran oil. If all you are concerned with is complying with a low carb protocol any oil, because oils are fats devoid of carbs, will do.
@pillsber4 жыл бұрын
The omega 6 story about peanut butter is a grossly overstated 'risk' which is basically bunk. Drake I probably have two or three meals a week with nothing but peanut butter and maybe a piece of keto bread my wife bakes. In fact I gobble down peanuts, peanut butter and almonds like there's no tomorrow. Has been fabulous for me on keto though I do count the NET carbs and shoot for 20grams a day total. But don't sweat it if I'm hovering around 30. Kindly, Moon.

Very easy and good recipe. I had no idea that peanut butter was so easy to make. I roasted my raw peanuts in the oven a couple of days prior to making this treat. Adjusting the sugar substitute is tricky. Stevia gave a weird after taste in the first batch. I prefer the Monkfruit as it did not have an aftertaste in today's batch. I used just enough to remove the natural bitterness of peanuts. I made it once before a couple of weeks ago using my Vitamix. It turned out well. However, I prefer to use the food processor as you did because it is easier to remove the peanut butter. Thanks a lot. I really like your videos.

Never knew it was sooo easy to make homemade peanut butter! I am definitely going to try this soon! You have any ideas for jelly? I soooo miss peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!
@Species7107 жыл бұрын
I can't imagine one could make jelly low carb. I'd suggest making Cloud bread, peanut butter and then mashing your fruit of choice. You could heat the mashed fruit and add your favorite low carb sweetener but I think it would be better to train you taste buds to not need extra sweetener. Be sure to know how much fruit you are using to do your carb tally. Let's say, 5 strawberries, for example. That would be 5 carbs per MyFitnessPal.com www.myfitnesspal.com/food/calories/428934188 One could probably add some chia seeds to make it more gelatinous and get some Omega 3 as well.

Hey, man. Why did you add the melted butter? I am curious because it can be made without adding the butter. Adding the butter would cause it to solidify if you keep your peanut butter in the refrigerator (even without it in the winters). Since this won't have an extended shelf life without the preservatives, you might wanna keep it in the fridge.

I think if you live in a cool climate it should be fine. In India we keep it inside because everything melts. Should last a good 2 weeks I think. Also use some oil instead of the butter and the life is longer. But otherwise I think it should keep.
