How to create lofi hip hop jazz seventh chords using Ableton Live's stock chord and scale devices, then develop the chords with basic counterpoint, contrary motion, arpeggiation and melodic variation. Create a drum beat with Drum Rack that connects with the syncopated rhythm of the chords and adds groove with ghost notes. The echo of the lead melody it a bit much, at least when i do it in Ableton 11. Maybe I did something wrong, but it stays on for a very long time even after I hit stop and it builds up during the song. No matter what, great tutorial! Thank you so much! I finally found an entry point into lofi without someone trying to sell me 10 different plugins I really(don´t) need!

15:33 This one little nugget of advice - to build melodies based on the top note of the chord - has worked wonders for me. I've been playing instruments forever, attempting to compose for the past 4-5 years, and somehow this never quite clicked with me - my solos and melodies were always so dull, too focused on the key center. It's been a game changer. Thank you so much for all of your videos, they're all incredible. Your presentation style is so welcoming it keeps me inspired to make music 🤘

This was super informative on many different levels. I've had nearly two decades of experience on other DAWs and ended up purchasing Ableton Live because people kept telling me it's amazing. I had no idea that the bundled instruments and effects were so robust! Ableton Live is so vastly different from anything I'm used to, I need to sit down and really dig into what it can do.

Hey Stetsonator, thanks for checking out the channel! You'll need to set the blank midi track's input channel to Post FX right below the track selection. You can see this pictured at 8:13 - the default setting is usually Post Mixer which is probably what you had it set to. I hope this gets it working!
