Thanks for the tips. I have just started learning about Macedonian food and culture since I started dating my boyfriend. He will be so happy that I can cook his native food especially when he misses his family.

Hi Baba, My son and I made zelnick today. It was nice and we look forward to making it again. I think the dough was a little hard, but next time will try stretching it out more. Thanks you for your videos.

Looks very yummy will give it a try.. do you have to wait for the onions and pork to cool down before you put eggs in?
@AfternoonsWithBaba2 жыл бұрын
Thank You for your question about our favourite Zelnik Tamchicky, I usually make the onions a day before so they do happen to be cool. I would recommend putting the egg in after the onions cool, this is a very tasty zelnik hope you enjoy. All the best, Baba

This reminds me of my Baba Slafka's cooking. Which village did you come from? My family comes from Lerin - your Macedonian dialect is identical. Excellent job - next time, a little bit more pork ;)

Terance, I’m happy you enjoyed my video for the Zelnik; we come from Nevoliany just outside of Lerin. Thank you

Can I substitute with hamburger instead of pork? If so how much hamburger ? Thank you🎄💙
@AfternoonsWithBaba4 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for your comment! If you would like to try that, you can but I find that pork seems to taste better with the onions. If you decide to try the hamburger version make sure to fry the beef before you mix it with the onion to reduce the fat content. Merry Christmas 🎄❤️

Hope C. Hi! Based on how much pork she was frying in the pan, I’d guess no more than 1/2 pound of meat. A quarter pound would probably be best. Think of the meat as a seasoning here, not the main ingredient. Hope this helps. Let us know how it comes out! 😊
