Mayonnaise is disgusting. There isn't even a trade off like some things are unhealthy yet taste good. But not only is mayonnaise unhealthy but it doesn't even taste good. Mustard not only taste better but it is more healthy.

I feel like this should come with the disclaimer that homemade mayonnaise doesn't taste *ANYTHING* like store bought. I love homemade, but they're really two different beasts. It also doesn't work as well for things like picnic salads. (Especially for any sort of outdoor events Real mayonnaise spoils faster than store bought because of the raw egg.)

we making it it home 2 garlics a half tblson black papper or red by choice add 1 cup milk 1 or 2 egg mix it and a spoon sugar half tblspn salt a lemon or citrate acid and adding oil slowly its taste good and work for everything idk about salad but for us its work

That's because you're supposed to use vinegar. It's also supposed to be the egg whites.

There are better recipes out there. Melissa K. Norris has a great video on the subject. She explains it very well and talks about all the different oils and other ingredients as well. Her method is also a lot easier using an immersion blender.

In a blender add: One whole egg A teaspoon of white vinegar A pinch of salt 2 cloves of garlic Then add vegetable oil little by little till it thickens There you go!!!💖

Yes I follow the same recipe. I use a juicer jar, open the small cap on top of the lid and let air mix with it, add oil through the small opening on top

I would have added the mustard in the end. Then the cayenne pepper. And then refrigerate the whole thing for atleast 2 hours. This helps the flavours blend

as a brokie that thinks $6 is too much for a jar of mayo, I've been tryin to find good options. gonna go for a more slavic option and make it with sunflower seed oil and dill ty

You can just use egg whites and salt sugar and sunflower oil but adding the oil is the same process slowly mixing it well. I just don't like the yolk so white worked for me

Thank you for your video! It is fun, super quick, and simple. Stoked you showed the whisk way too, as I haven’t got anything else. I can’t justify eating a tub of seed oil, but tuna melts just aren’t without mayonnaise, in my opinion. I am elated to have some home made olive oil mayonnaise. It was to runny at first, and I just kept adding oil, thinking this seems like the wrong direction, but with more it did eventually thicken up, so that’s wonderbar. Cheers.

Very delicious!!! But food safety tip; this only lasts about 5 days before it has to be tossed as there isn’t preservatives like commercial mayo.

Not even 5 days it must be consumed like within two days you can extend the period by adding drops of venagre to acidify it , it will hold the germ growth for a little longer

Tbh, I think people who post food vids online are just scared that people might accuse them of not being able to season things, which means you can't cook apparently. That's understandable, because people be doing that about the dumbest things online. Like, not every single thing needs a bunch of seasoning. Sometimes a simple salt and pepper is plenty.

Can i say a easy method...take a mixer jar add about 2 whole eggs ..add half cup of oil , garlic two piece,some whole black pepper,salt ,some sugar ... grind everything together..and open it again add oil..then it becomes creamy and add oil upto u get mayonnaise, easy.. taste absolutely as mayo❤

Who told you guys vegetable oil is toxic? In Europe, never heard that. We normally use sunflower oil for desserts and fry and olive oil for dressings or to fry when we want to add flavour. Maionaise, like alioli... normally use hand blender, add salt and yolk, then add the oil, little by little, without moving the blender. Normally I mix 3/4 of sunflower with 1/4 of olive oil. Don't want the maionaise or alioli to taste so much olive oil.

Its because in America, there is sunflower oil and olive oil but that's not what people are talking about - those are labeled as such. However, there is also an oil called, on the label, "Vegetable Oil", and its usually made of soybean oil.

At Casa Mia we make homemade mayonnaise but it is very different from this recipe and without offense it is easier and it definitely comes out more (and it tastes like the one from the supermarket)

Is lecithin an emulsifier? I thought its just a Phospholipid found in the cell membrane..? 😅

Both! Lecithin is a complex mixture of phospholipids making lipid bilayers in cell membranes. The lecithin in the egg yolk has emulsification properties because of it's ability to mix with both water and fat due to it's hydrophilic heads and hydrophobic tails.

Remember to only stir one way since it can rip and the mustard is necessary for it to form , the lemon juice isn't necessary

As a Portuguese I can tell you, that you have so much mayonese in the jar. 😂 You just need to use a butter knife, or a long spoon, even a silicone spatula. Its always a way to let the package clean to recycle or reutilize the jar. I also do the same to the mostard, ketchup Heinz and other delicious sauces we do here.

An "immersion" or stick blender can be used. Also, you can use a small/medium jar to mix the ingredients.

Another trick idea is to use one egg yoke and 1 whole egg to make more mayo slightly thicker then just one whole egg. A trick to store bought mayonnaise so it doesn't taste light.

Well I am an indian and in my house we never bought a mayonnaise bottle for my entire life till now We used to make them with one whole egg, some garlic, vinegar and salt. we blend them in blender TOGETHER and we would add sunflower oil while blending them. And tadaaa~~~ We have mayonnaise 😁

I always just get a blender and put in it 1-an egg (not cold) 2-mustard 3- salt 4-black peper 5-oil (of your choise) And i blend intil it becomes a creamy lightcolored mayo and dont use cold eggs or it will fail and become like water

Who told you vegetable oil is toxic?? We only use sunflower oil and is neither toxic or hard to make... Anyway if you want to kill your arm do this method for mayo, but if you want to use your arm in the future and not want to kill yourself then do this: in a manual blender container put a whole egg raw, salt, one teaspoon of mustard and about 250ml of oil. Put the blender in all the way down and start it, it will thicken really fast so start pull it up slowly and when the whole thing is now mayo start put in the lemon and adjust it for salt, while you still blend for a short while. The lemon will make it more liquid (a little) so you can add more oil if you want to make more. I have diabetes so I put less oil and then I put in yogurt if I need a bigger quantity. Is fool proof and fast.

this is how I do mine with a stick blender. Apparently, the purpose of the lemon juice is to kill any bacteria in the egg
