Great recipe!! Tried it last night and loved it. However, when making the dough I noticed it was a little tough when I added 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder so when I made more (had too much filling) I used just a little over a tsp and they came out perfect!

I made this today but with a slight variation. I used leftover pork shoulder instead of ground pork. Taste was great but I overstuffed a couple of the buns and that caused a few small holes in them. No problem, it was my first time trying this. I will get better with practice.

Yeap it is important to mix the meat really well because the pork will get even more combined and by mixing in a constant single direction will give it a really good texture. The meat would not be separated.

I just made a batch of these today! I got really sad because after they were all made, I realized I didn't use sesame oil (which, I love)....but that's ok. I also added some gochujang (red pepper paste) to the pork and used brown sugar instead of white.

Is Baking powder normal / traditional? Because I always use yeast dough, when making german "steam noodles" or russian "Manti". Is BP better or is there a difference in taste?
@divenchen371
@divenchen371 10 жыл бұрын
yeast itself has a certain flavor that is present when steamed so baking powder would be better i'm not sure if it is traditional but my dad always makes the dough with baking powder and it is always delicious. I think it is also a bit faster since you do not need to wait for the yeast to ferment to make the air inside the dough.
