Falafel presumably originated from Egypt and is a predominantly a fabulous street food that stays in par with any other meat based street food or fast food joints.
It is either made with soaked chic peas or fava beans and sold either as fried falafel with Tahini dip(roasted sesame paste dip) or served as pita pockets or wraps. these days Mac burger seems to have carried it forward as mac falafel burgers too.
It is an excellent protein source had for breakfast and during Ramadan served in iftar and sohour.
Similarities can be seen with Dal vada from the southern india here chana dal r toover dal with curry leaves, chilli and other mild spices and coarsely ground and fried similar to Falafel
Falafel pitas normally are made with a layer of hummus (chic peas and tahina amalgamation) inside the pocket, then add the falafel, lettuce, mix veggie salad, soft fries potatoes, fried eggplant, and pickles and dunked with a thin layer of tahini sauce.
It is quiet a filler and also so simple. Have lot f variations with beetroot, cheesy version etc. we have made the basic falafel and are sure that you will enjoy our falafel version and keep it by your heart for many years to come. happy cooking foodiepod
