Finally a detailed video on the exact fencing I’m wanting to do at home AND using the metric system! Took me a few clicks but glad I came across this gem! Awesome job

Thank you.. that blocklayer link will definitely take the anxiety out of building this DIY fence I've been putting off doing.😅

Really informative & helpful - thank you! Noting that you've used a brad bailer for the initial attachment of pickets, interested as to how many screws you would then finish off each picket with?
@naileditfencing10 ай бұрын
You’re welcome. 1 screw for each rail on the picket. 3 rail fence = 3 screws per picket.

Just watched one of your earlier videos where you mention you'll do a video on digging holes and fitting the posts - have you done this yet please? I've had a quick look and can't find it if you have done. Absolutely love that website you've linked to to calculate the spacings, this is going to save a hell of a lot of time. I've subscribed :D

Thanks mate. Not yet. I mainly film TikToks. Bit easier. But I will get to doing a post video soon 👍

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing some tricks of the trade! Would you mind sharing which company you source your timber from if you are based in Melbourne?

I’m glad you enjoyed. Try Mika Timber, PY timber or Demak outdoors

Excellent video. Thanks for putting this together. What’s your mm tolerance for spacing differences between bays? Eg. Would 16mm spacing on bays and 13mm on gate be noticeable?
@naileditfencing Жыл бұрын
Thanks heaps. Great question. 3-4mm difference between bays that are next to each other with wider gaps (like your example) is not noticeable. You could also set both end pickets of your bays so the middle is even on both bays.

Thanks for the calculator link! Do you build many paling fences on top of concrete sleeper walls? Do you still require a plinth?

Hope it helps. Don’t need the plinth but I think it’s good

Hey Great video Can you help me please. My pickets all vary between 91 to 94 mm.! How can I get a perfect spacing without ending up with to big, small gap at the end of the run.?9 In some sections I have ripped them down to 90mm and used the technique ypu give in your video...great. but this takes up a day as I purchased and pre painted everything and now realised the problem. . I am a bit annoyed bought then at bunnings as 90 ,mm pressure treated boards abd they all vary..! Cheers damien

Unfortunately, if you have bought materials that are like that. It’s going to be a long and painful process. If I had to, I would try and separate the pickets into piles of their respective dimensions and then calculate accordingly. Personally, I would’ve taken them back for a refund straightaway. Good luck with your project, I’m sorry that you have to deal with that annoyance.

Jeez dude. Cut a board to the width of the spacing you want and throw it between every picket you put in.... cant believe you just went and marked 1578 lines for that

Difference is. My method remains consistent. Yours is prone to too many errors 👍
