From what I remember,you soak the green bananas in warm water and you cut the ends in order to take the peel off. You brought some of my childhood memories alive. My mom will make these and some bacalao. At times she will cook for a large crowd at my father's baseball games. This is how she will earn money to buy our school clothes and supplies. I have 3 yr old chocolate brown Pomeranian full Puerto Rican smart as hell! I feed him cooked chicken breast and turkey breast not that crap artificial dry dog food. He’s an inside dog house, and he lets me know when he has to go outside. ❤I got him as baby never broke anything only his toys. He waits until my husband is asleep to jump in bed either me.

Two and a half hours later I finally enjoy my burnt alcapurias without extra vitamins (all fingers still intact). But the kitchen looks like huracane Maria has gone through it. My whole family is devastated by all the mess. All in all, I am happy with my first homemade Puerto Rican Alcapurias in The FreakinRican style. Thank you!⚘

I used to think that Alcapurrias were the most hardest things to make but you make it look easy and explain it so well (in Spanish and English-the way I can relate! lol) that I will now give it a try! My mouth is watering before the alcapurrias are finished cooking! My mother's family is from Cidra. My mother & tias made delicious alcapurrias, morsilla, pastels, arroz con gandules, pernil, mofongo, bola de papa, bacalao fritos, coquito, flan, etc. OMG! Orgullosa de ser Boricua! 💖🇵🇷💖🇵🇷

I make my own sofrito here in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico, home grown sabrocitos peppers, oregano, recao, cilantro, garlic, onions, adobo, salt, cumin powder, and roasted red bell pepper, blend it together. I like to fresh sofrito to my masa.

I'm SOOOO EXCITED that you showed this!!! This is literally my favorite PR food, next to this seafood mofongo that I got when I went to visit mi abuelita in Guayama...EVERYTHING in this mofongo was cooked to perfection...the shrimp, octopus, lobster, conch, & scallops, along w/the mofongo!! There's a couple things mi abuelita didn't make because they were too time consuming, so it's great to see that I can find them here!!!!😃👍
