In this tutorial I'll show you how to make a simplified Rey's staff from Star Wars The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. It's a little time consuming, but fairly cheap and easy to construct from PVC pipe and craft foam. Had requests for this from Doreen and Yesmarvel76. The piece of pipe I used for this was left over from the Aquaman trident ( • DIY Aquaman Trident - ... ), so my Rey staff ended up being a little shorter than it should have been, but you can adjust yours to fit your size. A lot of the D-rings and fasteners were just spare ones I had lying around, so not sure where all of them came from at this point. Just use whatever you can find that's close.
MATERIALS USED:
1 PVC pipe (mine was 1 1/4 inch diameter)
Scrap strips of off-white and brown fabric (the more ragged the edges, the better)
Hot glue gun
Scissors
2 sheets of 3mm craft foam (amzn.to/2DH7K2y)
1 sheet of 5mm craft foam
White school glue (amzn.to/2DGICJe)
Foam brush (amzn.to/2nlY9rb) and cup to hold glue
Black paint (I used lacquer: amzn.to/2sc7HKL)
Metallic Gunmetal Gray paint (amzn.to/2EFMCuN)
2 D-rings (or something similar)
A 3-bar fastener (so the strap can be adjusted)
1 5-foot piece of beige strapping
2 clasps to hook onto D-rings (amzn.to/2EHxNI8)
*Optional: Distress ink or brown food coloring to age to staff wrappings (goo.gl/H87sr5)
