I too have Jamaican parents but I never learned to cook the dishes I grew up with. Now I’m married and my parents live far away so the only time I get to eat Mom’s cooking and Jamaican dishes is the once or twice a year that I see them. This channel has helped me learn how to cook the dishes I grew up with and I’m glad I can share them with my husband. I’ve been worried that learning how to cook these recipes would be lost once my parents pass away. It feels good having this channel as a resource. Thanks to both of you for giving me the confidence to cook things I never thought I’d be able to!

Thanks and blessings to daddy's Kitchen, I was born in JA and grew up in NYC. I am the only Male in the Fam that can't cook. I recently retired after 24 years of public service. I have a beautiful leather bound notebook and I copy all your dishes. I will try the same recipe for months until It looks and taste good. Thanks Daddy, I thank God for you for sharing your gift. I can now share with my 5 children. Wishing you all continued success.

I LOVE WHAT MR DEDDY SAID ABOUT COOKING AND CLEANING FOR HIMSELF! THAT WAS MY DAD BACK IN THE DAY...IN FACT, HE WORKED HARD TO HIS DYING DAY, THAT IS WHAT YOU CALLED A GRAFTER. HE COULD COOK...EVEN MADE BREAD! HE COULD SEW, IRON, HE DID SHOPPING AND DIY, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT...SO DID MY MUM! SO THEY ALWAYS TOOK TURNS TO COOK OR DO A CERTAIN CHORE AROUND THE HOUSE. NOW ME AND MY 2 SISTERS DO THE SAME AND SO DOES MY SON; EACH ONE TEACH ONE, RIGHT?

First time watcher. Grabbed my attention. We make Puerto Rican cod fish fritters, or "bacalaitos". We don't add the scallions or Scotch bonnet pepper, but basically the same. I will try it your way and see how it taste.

My Dad used to cook all the recipes that your Deddy does. Unfortunately he passed away of Covid. I miss him so much. Your Father reminds me of my Dad, who has a cheeky smile and kind loving eyes. Cooking along with him makes me feel quite emotional. The finished products taste fantastic and remind me of fantastic times with my family. God bless you both. Thanks for the amazing recipes!

@odeanlawrence1834 Greetings! You're the only other person I've seen spell "ennit" as....well..."ennit"! I always see it spelt as "innit" and it irks me!!😂😂. Sorry, I digress. I go to my local Caribbean restaurant for take out - in the UK - and they hardly ever have this great side dish in stock. Y'know when you really fancy something and nothing else hits the spot? I was craving fritters but nothing!!! Then I thought..I'm gonna make my own. Eureka!!!! So here I am! I am of Jamaican heritage yet I've never made saltfish fritters. Oh, the shame!! Lard ah mercy! Pray fi mi, people!! Thanks Deddy and fam! 🇯🇲🇯🇲

Just subscribed … I have a Jamaican dad and a Dominican mother who makes these religiously arbour request from children . Everyone requests my mums Fritters 😂 and I’m going to make a batch only for the third time today for myself and my friend . I’ve made the banana fritters but never known to combine banana and saltfish. And never with salt fish and sugar 🤔 I may try a pinch of sugar in mine but I like the original way how my mums makes it without sugar . My mum also puts in finely chopped green and red pepper too. And makes about 35 of them (bless her !) I’ve subscribed and these look wonderful 👌🏾 And I look forward to trying the rest of the recipes I don’t know how fi mek myself😂 I’m born in London , England btw. Shouts out unu still same way! 🇬🇧🇯🇲🇩🇲🇻🇪

This was one of my favorite breakfast growing up in Jamaica, salt fish fritters , we Jamaicans call it flitters Lol 😂 with a nice cup of hot cup of chocolate tea and I am talking about real chocolate that my grandmother would make by beating the chocolate seeds in a big maata bowl and add real cinnamon that’s also picked from the tree nutmeg you could stay a mile and smell the chocolate tea with all the added spice
