How do you make sure the router will stay in place? I don't see any screws connected to the router and jig
@flow22075 жыл бұрын
What I liked most about your setup was the way you used your follower-insert to affix the router to the base. I'm sure I would have spent half an hour making a screw on plate that I would never be able to use again. Really smart, John, thanks for that new trick up my sleeve!

I used T1-11 5/8 in plytanium plywood for the tongue & groove effect. It comes in 4X8 sheets and is rough sawn with chamfered edges and shiplapped edges on the 8ft side. It does cost about $12 more per sheet but for all the work required to create the look, I think it is well worth it. It is also treated for exterior use. I used this on my cathedral ceilings in between the exposed timbers. Looks like tongue & groove stained to accent a beautiful wood grain.

Hey John, so I made the router jig just like you did. But on the first pass along the edge of the board the router jumped numerous times left and I had a very bad dado. Luckily I tried it on a test board. I had to do my first run with a 8ft guide on the left side. Once I had a dado for the jig it worked well. You made it look so easy. I couldn't keep the first cut straight. Any tips for me?

From the build article: what is the reason behind cutting the french cleats in a way where only the front half is angled? Is it so what you hang doesn't act as a consistent wedge, to stop the french cleat from being pulled out of the wall?
@JohnHeisz5 жыл бұрын
Look closer - the one on the wall is 2 layers to let the screen tilt down a bit. There's only one layer on the back of the monitor. And there's about the same probability of the planet splitting in two tomorrow, as this cleat coming off the wall :)

Nice job John and certainly cheaper than buying pre grooved . Only bug is imperial measurements, which most of the World doesn't use. The only three countries that still use imperial measurements in the World are, USA and two third World countries, Myanmar and Liberia. Why is that?

Hi , in 1:57 , when you cut the plywood with the circular saw and a straight guide , I see that you put the right side of the saw against the straight guide instead the other side (side of the motor) , why is that ?
@JohnHeisz5 жыл бұрын
Because I made the cut with my right hand.
@MoranGuyVideos5 жыл бұрын
@@JohnHeisz me too. I'm right handed. in all videos you see people explaining and making a jig , they use their right hand but put the saw against the left side of it (where the motor). I think I'm going to try out using the other side of the saw. I thought it because the weight of the saw going the left side , it is more natural to stick to the left

First, Home Depot Carries these sheets premade. Secondly, everywhere else carries T-111. I just don't understand going to all this effort to produce what it already, visually, the same product. I like how you used your router, though, instead of trying to muscle those massive sheets through a table saw. I probably would have used my cordless skill saw with a jig.
@silverbackag979010 ай бұрын

I used 1/4" plywood cut in to 6" strips and spaced them with a US nickel on its side. I like the look but love the savings vs. doing it with real 3/4" ship lap.
