Might seem like a silly idea but maybe it would be more efficient if you made a grip for the pump that was horizontal that you can slide your palm into. Sort of similar in shape to a circular shopping bag grip, but tighter against your hand? That way it's easier (at least in my head imagining it) to keep the crossbow pointed where you want it to be as you pump it. It might also be more stable too.

@Albert-ym9hx8 жыл бұрын
+J. P. (Prohaska Nation) the bow frame would have little to no elasticity, compared to wood or metal bows. You would have to use some inherently elastic bow string, such as rubber, but even then the plastic couldn't handle as much draw weight as a cheap wood slingshot.
@PromptedHawk8 жыл бұрын
No, it's just that the plastic would be lucky to hold for a few shots. Most 3D printer plastics anyway, they're practically pure chinesium.
@Ty1220968 жыл бұрын
You think you could add some sort of sturdy arm brace to the cocking lever so your hand is already at the pistol grip when you finish cocking it? You would just open your firing hand and pull down on the foregrip.

The airgun has more penetration then a 5.56mm bullet. holy shit.
@acephantom9038 жыл бұрын
Not quite. It went through a single car door and through some wood. If the car door deformed the bullet (possible) it might not have had enough penetration to go through as much wood because it wouldn't have it in the ideal cross section and probably would be keyholing. A 5.56 nato round has 1700 joules of energy while this launcher has just under 1000 joules.
@Paronak8 жыл бұрын
acephantom903 i think the door would we enough to deform the bullet unless it is a green tip.
@SuperAWaC8 жыл бұрын
556 is not supposed to have high penetration, the dart is also hugely more massive with a file hard steel tip. it's not really a fair comparison to make.
@libertyprime19978 жыл бұрын
FMJ, which is standard for a nato 5.56 round, would've sliced through that car door and out the back of the shed without any issues, even deformed. You highly underestimate the penetration power behind that round. It slices through standard lightweight kevlar vests easily, and at a distance too. The standard nato 55gr is small and moves at 2700 fps out of a very short barrel of 10.5". Out of the ideal 24" it moves at 3300. This bolt being a very large and slow moving round compared to all modern bullets will by nature have far less penetration power. It probably even penetrates less than a .45 acp. I have a question, why didn't you make it so the trigger end is also the string pull back handle? isnt it a little awkward for you to press your hands together to pull the string back? if you had the trigger pull the string back (almost like a bow or slingshot motion) and have the pistol grip slide up from a slot on the bottom with a hook attached to it(that would slide underneath the string and grab it once it passes). I feel as though it would get you quicker results than the second version.

To make sure both the point and knock end of the arrow have fallen perfectly into battery before firing, you could make a simple electrical circuit that makes an LED light come on in the rear. I almost wonder if something closer to a shotguns forestock would work better for resetting the bow string. The grip you've got there seems like it would be leveraging at an angle which would generate a lot of extra friction making it harder, thus slowing you down.

I learned a valuable lesson today when testing out my replicated Jorg-Ko-Nu...wooden triggers, even plywood wooden triggers are not recommended for crossbows of any poundage. My left thumb took the brunt of the strings snap back. Ouch. Now I'm fabricating a metal one. Here's hoping lol. I have rigged a 'safety' on my pistol crossbow for those just in case moments.

Jorg I'm totally amazed. Would you sell plans to build the bow

SVG of parts would be great for CNCs. Or just good perpendicular photos on the back background so you can vectorize them. Is any of these available somewhere or will I have to modelize it myself?

you never use crossbow wax to lubricate the strings and rails?
@Slingshotchannel8 жыл бұрын
String can be waxed, but the rail is polished to high shine and does not need any wax.

What about doing some sort of lever action on the front handle? Instead of pushing down on the back like the manufactured one you'd push forward and up on the front handle of yours.

can you make a rifle version of this model by enlargening the dimensions, I want to add a bayonet so I can make the crossbow more practical

Wow and just in time for Christmas. That is one hell of a nice build, Joerg. This will make a nice little DIY present for myself. :)

The magazines are awesome! Must be difficult to go back to the original cobra and enjoy it without the magazine.

could you please make a long version, with a longer bow and a stock. and thanks for the blueprints, I'll definitely try it out

Definitely making this, so simple and cool.

Love your work. I made myself a repeating crossbow based on your videos. But I am finding that the bolts turn sideways and then the vanes stop them from moving down to the string properly. Do you have any advice on how to prevent that?

Now, you will need to have a crossbow license to live on the planet Earth because of Joerg. 😂😂😂 I love it.😎😎

To increase the speed of the valve you could introduce a piece of string with slack in it so the rubber acting on the valve is moving at full speed by the time it starts of opening the valve.

@jeorgsprave wouldn't it b more convenient if u attached a rubber band to the pump action and front part of the bow to send it forward without having to push it forward it's small detail was just thinking might b more fun. but then again I'm more use to semi auto firearms. great job on the build
