Thank you very much 😊🤘 Yeah now I know that quadrants and lead in/out on templates would significantly help. I am thinking about making a backup wing that would be even lighter. With the know-how the only direction is to speed it up 🚀

@@valkyrie_workshop Well it might feel like cheating compared to using a hotwire bow but in the end i built a cnc hotwire cutter after finding plans on Thingiverse.. Took a while to build and after some starting trouble it works great and dont need to make templates anymore, only need to input the airfoil plotter cordinates and size of wing into the program 👍
@valkyrie_workshop
@valkyrie_workshop 6 ай бұрын
@witchywish2627 That's not cheating! If one can make something with absolute efficiency then that's the goal. I want to have the option when I crash, new part will be made in minutes or hours. (Not a huge fan of PNP commercial planes for that reason). I had this discussion about CNC wire cutter on my community post and what you named is what I mind about it. That's the plot coordinates and mostly non parallel cutting. I want to grab any of my 3D files, not giving coordinates and plots. Don't get me wrong, the current solutions (free) are all good. My main point is that in 2024 there is not an elegant solution for non parallel cutting based on 3D mesh. (You can operate 5 axis CNC mill with ease nowadays, all based on 3D mesh) And there are SW for this sure, free and paid. And the free works but at this moment I am not really keen to put that lot of time into tinkering around complicated system that has to drive 4 primitive steppers 😅 So when I will have rly nothing to do I will dive into it 🤘😊 EDIT: There might be some elegant SW already, but I haven't found it yet. Funny thing is that I have already construction design in my head 😁
@valkyrie_workshop
@valkyrie_workshop 6 ай бұрын
Bonus: What I mean by elegant, look at 3D printing. CURA and others, 3D mesh, generate G-code and run. Sometimes literally seconds. That's 3 axis, 3-4 steppers. Then you have non plannar printing, all the 3 axis independent. Doable In very elegant way. So if I have my own design of fuselage, I'd like to cut it fast and based on 3D mesh purely 😊

Thank you very much 😊 haha yeah, slow it down. 😅 My idea is I don't wanna waste much of a viewer's time so quick packed edit as majority can't keep attention for long time. And there is still lot of information missing, I'd like to make a long super complex videos but I am afraid it's not the way unless it's some very specific and serious topic.

As you say there are many ways to construct an RC plane. Nice detailed view of your choices, techniques, and tips. Great example of working with smaller foam sections is a great tip. Not only easier to work with, it would result in less waste should something go wrong. (ie: opportunity to practice with lower risk).

Thank you very much for your comment 😊🙌 Yeah the foam is cheap, paper is way cheaper than anything from epoxy-fiber glass technique and if you are ready hot wire is very fast way. I can't really imagine making all the ribs from balsa, too many hours...and then break it LoL 😆 And fiber glass is strong but also can be damaged. So the final waste expensive and the time 😬

Nice instructions on the cutting., but heating the wire can be much simpler. Here is an alternative way to build the hot wire cutter. A 20 volt drill battery can be used to heat a nichrome wire salvaged from a dead hair dryer. A vape shop also will sell similar wire that works. Wire heat is controlled by changing the length between negative and positive contacts (alligator test clips) on the nichrome wire. Simple, cheap, and easily adjustable. Looking forward to the next vid.

Great job! I have found that the brown paper and glue (I’ve used mod podge) is extremely strong! Since you built the wing with spars and support, you probably don’t need the added weight of fiberglass and resin.

@@bryceverreyen9341 Thank you very much 😊 Honestly, it's now my best method for sheeting and reinforcing wings. Freaking cheap, easy, always and anywhere available and the strength gain is superior for what it is. That's the exact point I came to the same conclusion as you so I would like to make another wing with maybe just light wood spar to limit some flex. Also wanted to try mod podge but not available here 😔 Yeah, going fiber glass you need a very special reason. Screw it 😅

When you cut the Ailerons out, do you cut all the way through or 75%? Them bend back & cut a bevel. Do you add or use tape in the hinge on top of wing to reinforce ailerons?
@Mikinct
@Mikinct 2 ай бұрын
Great video. What airfoil or do you typically use for your Vtail in this plane? Do you simply use same airfoil for the wings then scale it smaller for vtail? So if main wing cord is 6 inches do you take 3 inches wing cord for vtail

Thank you very much 😊 Mmm what components are you about to use? Same as me? Arduino, Pot, DC step down and MOSFET module? I used laptop PSU 20V 4.5A. And using the calculator to make sure I will stay within maximum amperage of the PSU which is important. I measured current and max was 3.8A on full power so I am safely under the limit.

@@valkyrie_workshop Yes I have same mosfet, step down, pot, and arduino, then various power supplies. I think I figured out most wiring from video, just cannot see where other two wires from Pot go. Thank you for replying, this is a really exciting build!
@valkyrie_workshop
@valkyrie_workshop 5 ай бұрын
@@kautionfpv oh cool then! The pot has three wires. Positive-Signal-Ground. So it is supplied by Arduino itself, tho you want ideally at least 10kOhm pot so it does not draw much power. It works as voltage devider, so the middle leg that is signal measures the "voltage drop" on that 10k range. Arduino reads it in range of analog 0-1023. 😊 Anyway, if you need I could draw the diagram and put it to the Google Drive folder along the plane plans.

Just a question, why is the dihedral downwards? Anyway, cool design and great detailed explanations, keep it up!
@valkyrie_workshop
@valkyrie_workshop 6 ай бұрын
I would refer to the previous episode. The Tips are downwards purely for design and it's also inspired by Talon GT Rebel. They are for sure less common compared to winglets. I feel Drooped Wing Tips looks more "futuristic" Their true effect on vortex is here unknown. Dropped Tips as STOL kit for GA - (Short take-off and landing) I seen them on few Cessnas. And then there are the split winglets on newer Airliners, so it's like combo, up and down 😅 Just so you know, for correction, negative angle is called Anhedral, Positive Dihedral ^_^ And thank you very much for your comment 😊🙌

@@valkyrie_workshop Cool, i saw a video once where they said that some heavy lift planes use anhedral to reduce stability (like the embraer C390) bc otherwise they wouldnt be able to roll but didn't know that downwards wingtips also increased lift and also never noticed it on the A10.
@valkyrie_workshop
@valkyrie_workshop 6 ай бұрын
Yeah, additionally to that the Dropped Tips improves ailerons control authority. So heavily loaded A10 needs it as well as ability to Take Off and land on short fields 👌😊

Hi Steve. It's any wood glue (PVA) and the paper, it's packing paper. There are more variations with different thickness so I go around local stores and try to find the thinnest one. Mine has one side matt and the other is a little shiny. But both are smooth, so it's not like rough paper. Rly the best way is to check multiple stores and get the best you can find 😊👌

It would be better if glass fiber with epoxy is used instead of paper and it strength will also increase by doing that!
@valkyrie_workshop
@valkyrie_workshop 6 ай бұрын
Absolutely! One question is tho if that strength is needed and If it's actually lighter/cheaper. For epoxy it's best to use vac bags so there is no extra epoxy raising the weight. Thus you need just more gear for epoxy work. This is just freaking easy, no special materials and available even in local grocery store 😊👌 That paper gives for my needs enough strength. Maybe with high G maneuvers I'd be little concerned about the paper 🤔
