Just wanted to add that I used this method and made up a pair 50cm of Audio Note Silver RCA using AN silver wire, AN plugs and AN solder. Didn’t need to use a ground wire as I am going DAC>AMP. The PTFE tape is perfect for the job and relatively easy to work with. I used a braid as well over the insulation. Thanks for the advice and sharing your knowledge TM. The Cable sounds amazing, no issues, no hum etc. brilliant 👍

Good Morning. I have a followup question... I'll be using cotton piping rather than paper piping. I also see the 10% silver clad copper double silk wrapped wire has not been available in over a year. I have found a Dueland Coherent Audio DCA ACO.4 AWG26 pure silver single strand sheathed in cotton impregnated in oil insulation. Do you see an issue using this instead of the silk covered silver clad wire? If appropriate to use, the cable should be finished with PTFE tape or cotton wadding and PTFE tape. Thanks for your help.

Hello, thank you for sharing. This RCA 2-core audio unbalanced cable is single ended input Generally, the impedance is high, and the low impedance is 10K to 100k. Some electronic tube input machines will be higher up to 1m Ω. No matter which one will introduce high-frequency clutter EMI interference in the air, there can be no copper mesh shielding layer. In addition, XLR 3-core balanced cable is balanced input+- Twisted pair can also play an anti - interference role However, shielding protection is also required in long-distance or high demand occasions.

Twisted pair only really works into a differential (balanced) input, and a phono input is single ended. The idea is both cables being twisted pick up the interference equally. The differential input inverts one side and then adds both, giving a resultant zero for common noise. However, there is only one key to cables. Capacitance is what kills the signal. You can see figures of ~330pF / M length on normal sielded cable. Cut in half you only get 165pF... However by removing the screen you have eliminated a lot of load capacitance, so this will work, but the shield is poor, so you will possibly still get pick-up. I would loop it through an inductor if I was you. The cotton, silk, or such doesn't really do anything.
