If being a design student has taught me anything it’s that you’ll never win with printers, no matter how fancy or how old/new they are. They will always fight you!
@OpenKeith4 жыл бұрын
fun fact: there's an old "lp0 on fire" (lp = line printer) error message that still exists today on Unix-based OSes, which stems from the fact that printers at the time could actually start a fire, and this was apparently a common enough occurence to program in a specific error message for it

ahhhh so frustrating. I agree. It's a cutting machine. Cricut - I'm with Jennifer - we need more options. Also - We want to be able to arrange our items on the mats. PLEASE! Love watching you make stuff Jennifer. Everyone thinks using a cricut is easy but if you don't have adobe skills it can be rough. I tell myself I'm saving money by paying the adobe subscription fees instead of the cricut design space subscription for projects. I can make my own and do oh so much more. But I digress. I loved this video.

It was fun watching a designer do their own designs for stickers. My grand daughter often does her own artwork for her own stickers (to use in planners and calendars) But I am more into digital clipart images. And I don't like the white border or any border around my stickers - I like the actual image cut out as it is. I enjoy print then cut for lots of types of projects. But making stickers for adding to calendars, planners, and envelopes & mailing boxes is something I do to personalize projects.

wow. i’m glad i bought the silhouette! 😱 to make a kiss cut sheet you just give the stickers and the sticker sheet different line colours then tell the silhouette how deep you want each colour to cut. so easy!
@blue2day0134 жыл бұрын
Have you tried the Silhouette machine? You don't have to go through all that nonsense to get your kiss and die cut stickers. Plus you can adjust the registration marks so you aren't wasting paper.
@JennsCorner7774 жыл бұрын
Niceeee.... Now I can save up for one of those instead lol bye bye cricut
@blue2day0134 жыл бұрын
@sealemon If you get the silhouette I will be happy to teach you how to use it. Inside the software you can set the offset, kisscut/diecut, and adjust by the number on the following the blade, force, and speed. You won't need to make an offset in procreate or Photoshop because you can set it in the software. You can customize individual offsets to each sticker in the software. You can also duplicate your stickers in the silhouette software so you don't have to do it in Photoshop or procreate. One tip is to make the registration mark darker (you can do it in the software) it will help your machine find the marks if your printer's black isn't dark enough. The registration marks are only on 3 corners and they are small. They can be adjusted as well. There's a learning curve at the start (because you can do so much) but you will save time and it costs less. I have the silhouette portrait 2 for reference. ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks, Jennifer, I'd been wondering if I should invest in a Cricut :) I have an Epson 1400 Stylus Photo printer. The print quality can't be beaten, plus I can define any size print I want up to 13 X 19. It's great....IF it prints. I'll set it up with a print job (like calendar pages) and halfway through I get a flag that I have to "close the CD/DVD tray guide", that is not open, to continue. ????? So, I open the front of the printer and close it, click "Continue" and it will print..or will print after I do that a few times. I'm bound I'll use the printer until my last sheet of 13 X 19 paper is gone.

Hi Sea Lemon! If you want to make it A LOT easier for you to get stickers off, use a lightgrip mat, I only use that for stickers. Standard grip is better for thick cardstocks.
@beckyszemelyesen4 жыл бұрын
Also you can cheat with the different sticker setting, save the image as print and cut and then save it as a cut image too (or duplicate print and cut and set cut instead of print on the top) then align them, and duplicate the cut image 3-4 times. This will print your image, go through the kiss cuts once, and go through the full cuts 3-4 times cutting it all the way through. I also use this to cut the sticker sheet around. Check out this video by Pixie Styx, I learn it from her :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6ankoqFmMSfmKc

consider an HP printer, they also have HP Ink that you can sign up for which is a low cost way of getting ink before you run out as you need it as your printer is linked to their website, so they know your status at all times and you never run out of ink, kind of an ink club of sorts, and the printers are really nice, high quality.

You can use it for other kinds of decals such as for laptops or cars, heat press vinyl to decorate shirts, cutting out intricate paper crafts, cutting out die lines to make boxes and such, and cutting stencils for glass etching or other stuff. Though it’s hard to cut through, you can also cut through shrinky dink material to make charms. Basically, it’s worth it if you like to create custom stuff and want it done quickly or precisely, or if you sell such custom goods.

@RadishTheFool4 жыл бұрын
I think it basically does a kiss cut 5 times, thereby cutting through the paper in the end. It's a workaround so you can achieve different kinds of cuts in one file.
@N1MHLING4 жыл бұрын
It is to trick the machine into cutting around the sticker sheet multiple times so it goes through the paper. As you can only set it to one cut setting (in this case kiss cut for the actual individual stickers on the sheet), by duplicating the layer which kiss cuts around the sticker sheet it will eventually cut through the paper and the result is die cut 🤗
@hibiscus10moon4 жыл бұрын
yeah i was wondering why she didn’t send it in again with the die cut command for that area. i’m sure when making tons of these it’s inconvenient to wait the extra 3 min for the same sheet.
