I know this is old but can someone amend the recipe. I'm trying to get the cornflour/meal to water ratio but I'm not seeing any. Would greatly appreciate a response as I really wanna try this recipe! Thanks in advance.
@eatahfood2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, the ratio is 1 cup cornmeal to 1.5 cups water

Thanks for video. I love pastelles . What if I can’t fund raucou? I live in Canada. Can I omit it? No shadow beni either. Will cilantro work as a substitute for shadow beni? I heard that I can use aluminium foil if I am not Able to buy banana leaves. Please help me figure out substitutions. Thanks 🙏🏻

Shadow beni is also called Culantro or even Calantro. You can find it in Asian grocery stores in the vegetable section. I get it at an Asian supermarket called Nations.

You can find roucou in the asian supermarket in the Latin American section. Look for Anato paste.

@@eterboward4304 , hi 🙋♀️ thank you ! No Latin grocery near me... all downtown Toronto and with covid , I am not going there . Too many covid cases in Toronto. I will wait till year end and see .... Else I have to buy from home cooks who sell at Christmas time.

So I love both of you ladies and I enjoyed this collaboration a lot. Renée you are such a sweetheart. Now Natasha roucou or annato.. I got into a debate with a friend over using this. I heard its really just for colouring but other friends swear its the best addition to cooking pelau, stews and one friend used it in pastelle dough. Personally I do not taste any difference. What is your take on it please?

Roku is a small red veg that U crack open and take the.seeds out add water to a bowl and squeeze the seeds and the water is going to become a red and you can cook it in your stews Etc instead of ketchup Roku is very healthy

I'm kinda shocked as cook you didn't use your hands to mix the dough. I've never seen or heard a cook not like to use their hands, it's the best kitchen tool.

I love to cook, but I also do not like kneeding flour for the same reason. However, I do it because I have too with some recipes.
