@@bestkickz2464 everything is on just one map. You can be at any percentage of ethanol content (below e65) and it’s tuned so that it automatically adjusts the map to the ethanol content in your tank. So no worries about having to switch maps or anything. I HIGHLY recommend going with flex fuel, it’s really the only way to make substantial power gains. Note on the Grimmspeed J-pipe. As far as the ECU is concerned it is catless even though there is a cat at the end. Because it's not between the two o2 sensors you'll still get a p0420 code. I'm trying to deal with that on NY yearly emissions testing and Cobb combating emission defeats with the Accessport. If you live in a state that does yearly obd testing like NY I'd recommend Cobb's or a similar catted j-pipe that has one between the o2 sensors.

Just bought a 2018 wrx and hate how hard it seems to make reliable power on these. My Z needed intake/tune/exhaust and was into the 300+ range and reliability was great.
@kclove863 жыл бұрын
I agree to a certain extent with most of what you said. Every (stock) block will be different and the longevity or reliability of it will be different from the next car. Also the driving habits of the owner will also play on the longevity of engine no matter what modifications have been placed for reliability. That being said, I do have a 2015 wrx 120k miles tuned at 440/375 on e and 335/329 on pump. Current build list: TurboXS DP Invidia N1 single cat back Tomei ELH Boomba BPV (stock rate springs) Steamspeed 71R IWG turbo (500hp rated) Grimmspeed 3port ETS FMIC Mishimoto “race version” intake Perrin AOS Perrin turbo inlet Stock range spark plugs Tuned by English Racing. Now I have taken the time to search through these parts and do the comparison to the “popular” build list. This is what I have found to be a strong setup. Again all cars are not the same, and I have noticed that the parts that do well on the EJ don’t have the same performance gains on the FA platform. Now at my current power, the car is comfortable and drives just as well as stock. Plans for the future: IBR BRZ manifold kit BRZ intake manifold IBR secondary injection controller ID 1k-1.3k injectors IBR fuel rails (port injection) The plan is to push my stock block as far as I can reasonably before switching to a “built” block and HPFP. Now these are my own opinions and thoughts.

Interested to know if/when you plan on upgrading the stock clutch. Also been hearing some horror stories about the tranny taking a dump but that’s a bridge to cross when you’re there.
@kclove863 жыл бұрын
@@xil3ntkha0s so I have heard the same kind of horror stories with the current FA transmission. Personally I think a lot of that come from people driving their car constantly hard/ not giving it time to cool down. Also constantly launching the car. Generally speaking, constantly launching a vehicle with destroy the transmission, drive lines and components. Yet people will continue to do these things and call the transmission trash. They don’t mention the 150 launches they did in the last couple days before it blew up while driving. From what I have seen, they “can” be as strong as the older sti transmissions. As far as swapping the clutch, I plan on doing that as soon as I notice it starts to slip. As of currently, the clutch is still very strong and has a good amount of life left in it(2-3 years conservatively). When I do replace it I plan on a stage 2 clutch or a exiddy double disk clutch. Depends on how the car is handling at the time and the power it is at when it’s time for the replacement.

Keep in mind that with BRZ/FRS intake manifold that you will need different front mount intercooler pipe kit. The throttle body faces the front of the car on the BRZ manifold, instead of back of car. This is actually a good thing because you have less pipe length and bends on a FMIC. If you're planning on making big power, you can start with BRZ manifold and block off the port injection ports (there are kits), then get a FMIC kit that supports the BRZ manifold. Also the red metal BRZ intake manifold looks awesome. No more black plastic.

FYI, you didn't touch on it but nostrum just released a pre order for thier new DI injectors (stage 1) tunable by the cobb suite , so no aftermarket ecu required. They offer 10% more fuel flow , so that would give you some more headroom. I'm thinking with a FP blue or Boost lab stock location with a 60%-70% Ethanol blend would plant you around 500 wheel. That's just my guesstimate tho , and I'm looking forward to see what they'll put down in a real world application not just on paper. So that should make it substantially cheaper rather going dual injection on a flex tune , whether it be port injection or meth. With no need to worry about a meth failsafe since these injectors are integrated with the stock ecu. I'll probably grab those and a closed deck and see what's up in the upcoming months.

He said the hi-flow fuel pump caps out around E60. This is not true and with an e70-75 blend I'm at 404whp and 91 I'm at 328. Tuner said I could get 15-20% more hp if I lose the performance exhaust. Its my daily and I attended track days. No problems. Bigger turbo coming SoCal v4 should land me right around the 460whp mark.

Ahhhh well now I’m just questioning some stuff. I don’t have a “protune” as I use accesstuner and tune mine myself. I’m still on stock plugs Stock fueling, pump and all Stock lil spooly boy I’m able to tune it running e30 (no flex sensor) and I am running with or faster then some at least claimed 350-400+ hp subies. One of them is a IAG built STi, 1700cc injectors, bigger turbo, etc. Maybe it’s my tune, I don’t know but seems I am making some sauce on less then required mods. Knock is 1.41 typical phantom knock. My observation on the tuning side is this engine being high compression I can use that to my advantage over increasing just boost a ton. I’m just adding timing, adjusting cam phase timing. After this video though I’m searching low pressure pumps and maybe some colder plugs haha. I’m thinking there is more potential in the stock block then people give it. Just a matter of taking the time to utilize that potential OR just trying to tune as many cars for profit as possible. Can’t wait to get my hands on the FA24.
