Not much amazed me more than the epic, rough beauty of Scotlands nature & the honest warmth of the Scots.👍🏻 Not to forget Haggis, which I could eat every day. Eva from southern Germany.

Haggis every day, yes. It's so good for breakfast before a massive ride.

Yes Chris, more of this stuff! This is my kind of riding, long XC days, mixing paved and unpaved roads with hiking trails. Being in the wild with your bike is such a great feeling. In the comments many people really despise hike a bike, but without some of it you won't get to amazing remote places with your bike, and in the end routes like this give you fantastic feeling of accomplishment

Is there a part 2 of the Arran trip? Preferably with bits that you looked as if you enjoyed? 🤣 Appreciate the focus on the kit you need for an epic ride but would love to see more of the trails that you rode. Loving the channel. ❤

On my 2 routes this weekend I encountered all these features but didn't have to hike a bike, get bitten by midges or end up driving to Scotland but I did need sun cream - have a look at the routes around the Pennines for your next trip out Chris. However another enjoyable video from the team - thank you :)

My bike is a 2016 Scott E-Spark 710 with a 2019 Bosch CX motor. It has a brill Push Assist which actually drags me uphill. I thought all EMTB motors has this mode??? Totally correct advice to all MTB'S new to riding in Scotland. You must check every ride you intend doing. Some trails are difficult even for walkers

So Chris gets the short straw. Steve gets to ride the exciting trails and Chris gets to carry his bike up a mountain. Better luck next time Chris ;)

for anybody wanting to do goatfell by bike id advise going up from brodick as it is much more enjoyable on the descent

I've rock climbed on Arran quite a bit so I'm not afraid of tough terrain but I've just added this ride to my list of places not to visit and most certainly not with an ebike. Carbon hard tail might be better?

OS Maps are great. As an American at first glance they seem kind of blank. You could never use an OS hiking scale map in an aircraft. You can't even find Stonehenge on them unless you already know where it is.... HOWEVER, on the ground, on foot (or a bike -- didn't get the chance to do that) they're brilliant. Every fence, building, bump. All maps have errors, the errors on OS maps are the path is on the wrong side of a fence. At the very worst you'll have to back track 100 meters. (If you think I'm wrong, look at how experienced trekkers in the UK set-up their maps. I saw one video, I swore the guys had one of my maps. Different color highlighters. Set them up in advance. Highlight the path, indicate the peaks and other landmarks easy to see from a distance.) Also a good magnetic compass-- and learn how to use it. I love navigating with a compass. I turned around near the top of Erigal in Donegal, Ireland because the fog rolled in, I was solo. I turned around primarily because of long practice and experience I know how easy it is to get disoriented in fog. If I had to? Sure, no worries, but I didn't 'have to.' Also phone: extra battery, make sure it's all waterproofed, and restart your phone at the beginning of the ride. Sometimes those compasses in the phone can get out of whack if they've not had a restart in some time. (A great way to navigate on a mountain is by altitude. Repeatedly check your phone's altitude numbers throughout the day. If you know how accurate it is and you are on the trail and it says 600 meters, it's easy to find where the path line on the map crosses the 600 m line. And always have enough gear to spend the night, in the rain. (Extra layers, Giant trash bags, always carry extra for people who haven't learned this.)

Hey I just got my first ebike, or first bike in over 10 years. I'd really like to do a few upgrades but not sure if the parts im looking at will fit my bike properly. I've got a haibike sduro cross 4.0, and was wondering if I could get some kind of feed back on the best upgrades or how to make sure new components will fit? I was looking for new tires, but having troubles finding the right 28". I'm also unsure on the proper forks to use, will I have to much drop if I upgraded to some flox floats or rockshox lyrics or something along those lines?

hmm.. yeah, you're right: it's not the elevation, it's the difficulty of the trail. i live in the cascade mountains of the pacific nw of the usa. 640 ANYTHING (meters, feet - all but miles) is called "going to work on your bike." lots of steep terrain around here, which makes for fun mountain biking, but i'm too old for that now. trails around here are so radical, that an old fart like me would get run over, lol!

So with all the hike a bike carrying a heavy EMTB I think I would rather carry my light non motorized MTB. Of course you stressed knowing your trails. It is still is great to see these beautiful places. Keep the great videos coming.

Such as shame to see this video. I live on the island and we have some great trails and routes, carrying an ebike up goatfell is not one I would have suggested! Next time use a local guide to show off all the amazing riding the island has to offer.

That's another ride I'll strike off doing. Like Carn Ban Mor, Bynack More near me utterly ruined by upland conservationists and their sh*tty path building which is designed to deter bikers!!! Oh, And I just did Glen Feshie into Glen Tromie at the weekend...5km of hike a bike through thick heather and bog- OS "trail fail" yet again lol!! As for Chris's big day out that was a half battery day not 2...!!!! He looked like he was as p*ssed off as I get on tracks like these where you just can't get going and the water bars have sharp edges that could wreck a wheel in the blink of an eye...!

Too much hike your bike for me. Rain uhg… Cold in summer, uhg. We have more fun in the snow and ice with non fat, non ebikes in the Colorado winter than this ride. There are just too many epic mountains that you can actually ride instead of hike, at least here in the US. Maybe not so much in the UK? Not so much of an epic ride. I would not want to put off my friends from riding an ebike with this video.
