80% of my loses are because I panic sold! If I had held on for say a week. I would be better off.

I disagree that a trader should stop trading if they experience a streak of losers. Firstly, define "streak" how many trades is a "streak" ? Because you can have a few losing trades in a row, and then have winning trades. A trader must take all trades provided by the strategy. If you have a few losses and then stop trading, it's usually when the would be winners are about to come and those become the ones you don't take. I agree that it's critical to be a good loser. It was the last lesson that finally made me a consistently profitable trader

Only a few days ago i went long on Gold, (bought on a retrace in a nice few month trend) i got stopped out. Seeing the email "your position on Gold has been sold" is annoying. But my annoyance quickly turned to a pat on the back when it sharply reversed and produced a massive engulfing red candle before the markets closed for the weekend. I can honestly say it felt as good as a winning trade, and despite being a loser, gave me a nice ego/confidence boost. It feels like avoiding a near death experience, i closed my position for a small loss right before it sharply declined. I'm sitting here unscathed and feeling good imagining everything i could've lost if i had lost my discipline

Honestly really needed to see this. Definitely saving this one. Always thought making more profitable trades would make it better but never thought reducing inexcusable trades to a minimum and bad trades to not as bad trades would help me a huge amount.

Losers might be more important than winners. Even if you make 1% monthly and 0.0001% loss, got the patience , you'll be a billionaire. Even small profits compound immensely when losses are minimal
@lawsonone60156 жыл бұрын
My monthly net has much improved since I focused more on cutting losses, avoiding averaging down, not being 'seduced by breakouts' and not going back in after selling a winning trade that appeared to keep pushing up. Sometimes, if I feel an impulse to enter, I wait 5 seconds and it becomes apparent why I should have avoided it.

I know this is what I should do, but I guess I needed someone to say it for me to actually doing it. I kept moving my SL when I could just let it close right then and open another trade when the indicators are aligned once again. Thanks so much!

Something I never hear is if you lose50% you now have to win 100% to get back where you were( extreme example) Managing my losers kills me. It's easier for me to buy then sell win or lose. Ugh lol I'm getting it though. Thanks for the video

HOW TO WORK ON LOSERS is the problem.. ! do u average, do u hedge, and what do u do when the market still doesnt come your way....
@ukspreadbetting6 жыл бұрын
Averaging down is probably not a good idea. Reducing or slicing the position is better (say, half it so it reduces the financial impact on your account). If the premise for the original trade is no longer valid it might be best to completely exit. You could always get back in at a later time.
@Stavrosg766 жыл бұрын
UKspreadbetting when trading with stop loss you are essentially choosing to lose or take the loss when the trade goes against you..what if the negative position is managed creatively each time so that no matter what happens or how bad our entry was we come out with a profit..there are people who trade like this. I agree with them because they are treating it like a business.to liquidate a loss means you are accepting the loss..most forex traders fail because they are taken out one stop after another..
@Stavrosg766 жыл бұрын
Also the cold hard truth is that its riskier to trade with a stop loss rather than without because of the nature of the market..the market has to take out some stop losses to find support in order to move in the opposite direction..thats the main reason traders fail sadly
@sistematico176 жыл бұрын
Can you quote or link a video of someone who manage creatively negative positions? I'm curious. thanks

Manage the losers and the winners take care of themselves
@wongcheukkwan7 жыл бұрын
I am not a trader but a long-term value investor. I adopt a portfolio of several stocks to manage risks. It is inevitable to buy in some stocks which turn out to be losers. What could I do? I had to check what had gone wrong. Did it go in the direction against my thinking, or the time had not been ripe to become profitable. Normally I sold 90% of the losing stocks, and allowed 10% to stay in the portfolio. The losses were then realized in my account, but overall speaking. there are profits, as the other winning stocks is profitable. Leaving the losers in the account would not do good for the portfolio. Re-balancing of the portfolio from time to time is necessary. The unloading of the losers provides me with capital in invest in other stocks or top up the profitable stocks. Overall speaking, the portfolio is profitable, as there are more winners than losers.

Its fine to let losers run for a while due to market fluctuations, mostly if the market is on recovery potential. Money is just lost on the graphic but never real. Any thoughts ?

85% erm no - where did you get that from?

I have a hard time understanding something. So many people are saying that a trade is a loser if it goes against you. Can someone please explain to me why my account would be losing anything more than I already paid for if it goes into the negative and I just dont end the trade? Why cant I just hold on to it till it comes back. It may take a few months but it will always come back. At least thats my thoughts on it.
@Chauhan0106 жыл бұрын
NO.. IT CAN HAPPEN ..BUT THE ONE TIME IT WONT U WILL LOSE A LOT.. SO BETTER NOT TRY IT.. BUT IMPORTANT THING IS NOT LOSS..BUT THE REASON OF YOUR TO BEING IN THE TRADE.. IT ITS NOT VALID ANYMORE... THEN WHATS THE LOGIC OF BEING IN A POSITION THAT ALREADY AGAINST YOU

When I my first trade of the day is green, I halve the size of my shares for the next trade. If my first trade of the day is red, what should i do? should I still halve the size of my shares for the next trade, or what should i do? help please
@victoryaugustus13896 жыл бұрын
it's not an exact science..
@mwalker526 жыл бұрын
Why halve the size if you had a win? You should keep it the same, and run with your winning streak because the market is moving favorable to your strategy. If you are going to go smaller size, do it after a loss when you know the market may not be playing well with your strategy. Also don't fall for gambler's fallacy. Just because a coin tosses heads, doesn't mean the next toss has a higher percentage of being tales: every toss has the same 50/50 chance.
