I just wanted to thank you so much for your channel!!! I bought 3 guinea pigs in 2018 from Petco and they said they were starter pets and just needed a small cage and hay. I had no idea what to do with them so I did some research and went through like 5 different cages, bedding, different types of food etc. I finally found your channel and bought a c&c cage, and different food and mirrored one of your cage set ups for my piggy. He's so happy now and I can't thank you enough! I really wish Petco would educate us more before we buy. I now know to adopt which I will be doing in the future. Thank you again for everything you do!!!! You really make a difference!!!

Please don’t take me the wrong way.you are a very special person that rescues the Guinea pigs that desperately needs your help,love and forever home and if I weren’t for you so many Guinea pigs would be suffering in pain and passing away before they could live the rest of their life’s, thank you so much, because for every Guinea pig that you save is one more pig that wouldn’t have to suffer in pain and pass away so keep up the great work that you do to take care of them.

I have experimented with fleece bedding, puppy pads, loose bedding, newspaper and paper towels. All have pros and cons but after discovering dozens of newly hatched flies in the room that must have hatched from eggs laid in loose bedding a few days ago, I have sworn not to use loose bedding but only fleece from now on since the waste can be swept up and discarded. All it took was 1 fly. I had put new bedding just a few days ago. Fleece is best and wins out. Love this channel. Learned how to best care for piggies here and on Saskia's channel.

My piggies would fight over who owns the spot everytime their pen is being cleaned. Usually i put puppy pads at the bottom and then the shavings. It smells much less that way too. I also have the same setup, with their house on the sides and plenty of space in front. I got 8 x 6 foot pen with open space for them to roam around.

I've been using fleece in the winter but I am considering using the aspen pine shavings because washing so much is exhausting sometimes. I am also extending my cage around Thanksgiving because I found a brand new box of grids for 13.00 at the Goodwill.
@ScottysAnimals4 жыл бұрын
Is it a mix of wood? Remember Aspen and pine are trees. They are different types of wood. Both are safe if the pine is kiln dried. Aspin is not as soft but it smells very good.

At 8:09 are the 3 boys on a hammock? It appears to ge suspended but even on slow speed I couldn't tell how it's made. A hammock would be good for saving space. They could run under it unlike a house being in the eay.

Hi Scotty! I just found your channel and absolutely love it. I am hoping to get a couple piggies soon so I have been doing lots of research. I just had a quick question about bedding. I am debating between the pine chips you use and fleece and was wondering if there is any harm in changing the type of bedding you use. If I used one for a little while and then wanted to try the other kind, would that cause any issues with my pigs? Thanks!

I have a question. Do you have to give them fresh hay and water each day or if there is water and hay left over from the next day can I keep it there
@marigold92964 жыл бұрын
Saskia says to change the hay every day. Once it's stale, they won't eat it as much as they need to. It's good to give fresh hay twice a day, and change the water every second day..

The stale hay is good for the compost bin.
