Jeff. thanks for another helpful video. question: a lot of folks say to turn the flywheel back and forth past top dead a few times. however you only ran it past top dead once. is once all you do?

Once is enough.

Thanks for this instruction but what is the minimum squish and how changing squish will effect for engine performance? What do you prefer for KTM 300 2017 used only in technical stuff?
@anthonymacaluso14885 жыл бұрын
Depends on the fuel you will be using, 0.60mm-0.70mm on high octane larger for pump fuel 0.80mm-0.95mm.
@anthonymacaluso14885 жыл бұрын
The squish space does exactly that -squishes air and fuel mix centrally for the best shot at complete and powerful combustion

Anybody know where to get this solder he speaks of for cheap and not 100 feet of it?
@OldManEnduro4 жыл бұрын
Part 2 would sure come in handy right about now. Just rebuilt my top end and couldn't get a good measurement on the old base gasket as there wasn't much left of it. So, I just guessed with new one. Feels like I've lost some bottom end performance. 2012 250 XC-W.
@slaverace14 жыл бұрын
Measuring squish is for head mods NOT setting the deck height. You apparently installed a thicker base gasket which reduced low-end grunt.

@@slaverace1 aha! I'm a bit of a new, so I was confused about this. Thanks a million for your quick response! FYI, I did order my top end kit from you to show my support for all of your great videos. You da man Jeff!!!

So do you have a base gasket on right now while checking squish? Or is the cylinder metal to metal on the case?
@slaverace14 жыл бұрын
Yes, install the gasket first.

Jay Smith to pick the right base gasket (they come in diffrent thicknesses)
@benashlin88456 жыл бұрын
I think it is also called piston stop gap. There will be a speck for it and it will def effect you compression. you would change it by changing the gasket thicknesses between cylinder and bottom end. Maybe a pro can confirm this.
@benashlin88456 жыл бұрын
also called dimension x in manual
@srpracingdevelopments37283 жыл бұрын
You do not adjust squish by changing base gaskets because you would change the port timing outside what us required in setting Dimension X.
@MrUmpleby Жыл бұрын
@@benashlin8845 Used to do it on old Lister/Petter diesel engines, we called it bumping clearance then
