How to Microsquirt your Fiero.

This video gives an overview of what I did to install a microsquirt standalone ecm in my Fiero with an lz9 3900 v6 swap and a turbo.
Installation is a very easy process.
Follow along to see how I did it.
The microsquirt is made by DIY.org and is a cheaper version of the Megasquirt commonly talked about.

Hello sir, It's me, Mars, I have the 3900 third gen Camaro with BW369 billet... anyways, question : At some point you mention having to add a resistor to the harness for the crank sensor. Are you sure it was for the crank sensor? I'm looking at it here and looks like you need a resistor for the coil pack wiring, but cannot for the life of me see a reason to add one for the crank sensor. The way i see it you need to use a spare third output for the coils (likely use WLED) with a pullup resistor to TPSVREF so that you can run the 3 coils waste spark mode? Thanks!

I think I told you I used -10an fittings on the head. I meant -12an. I used 12an fittings

I used a Megasquirt on my old project car but it couldn't manage boost. My Fiero 3800 turbo uses an ODB1 computer tuned by Ryan from GM Tuners. But he didn't recommend more than 8 to 10psi boost. My question is can the Microsquirt tune for turbo boost to above 15psi? Nice looking install by the way😉

You need the correct map sensor for the micro to read boost but the microsquirt can read 3 bar map sensors so up to 29 psi of boost easily

Can you describe what all you had to do for mounts? I am considering a swap and seeing the Fieros that you and Phantom have done, it's opened up the 3900 as a consideration.

I have an 88. I was able to reuse my front 88 bracket, I had to shave a bit of the metal down to clear the oil pan, and I had to enlarge the holes a bit I used a Rodney d poly front mount to replace the old original. That's all I had to do for the front mount. I also modified my brackets for the factory dogbone, and it attached to the aluminum head like stock. I also used the fiero alternator bracket, timing cover and water pump There are no custom mounts needed for this engine swap

@@Slowv8Fiero That's awesome! I've got an 86GT, so hopefully the front mount isn't too different. I think I found in a more recent video that you had an issue with valve and piston contact, did you get all of that sorted out? Sounded like it was a total loss, but these motors don't seem to be extremely expensive so hopefully you're back on the road. I'm thinking of starting as stock and maybe adding a turbo later. I hope to keep the full trunk, think that's an issue either stock or with a turbo? Let me know if there's a different way you'd prefer I reach out than in comments. Thanks!

@@MJ-ff6oo that engine dropped a valve seat while idling in the driveway. Destroyed 4 pistons and turbo. I installed another junkyard engine for 800 and made 500+ whp with it Yes the engines are cheap. The trunk can be kept as the exhaust routing is similar to a 3800 swap.
