THIS is how you teach: no yelling, no seizure-inducing jump cuts, no f**king memes, no constant begging viewers to buy some product. And the products that Big Z does promote (in a classy manner) are totally worth it. I've been making music for a damn long time and I still learn from you man. Keep up the good work!

Hey man thanks so much for sharing! Can anyone answer this question though? Do you gain stage before you stem out the track into the mixing project?
@raccoonoutoftheforest23442 жыл бұрын
Have the same question, I think yes! Because you shouldn't export a clipping wavefile. So maybe you make a premix in your session with the gain knobs or you gain everything to -12db and rough mix it with the mixer fader. Also I think once a stem is made, the instruments should work together, so a premix is essential. Imagine a too loud subbass with a very quite top bass. So have a rough mix before

HEY MAN 9:49 why do you create a bus for side chain? why not side chain with the original kick audio track?
@mikesaintjulesmusic Жыл бұрын
I think it's because he wants all of the components of the track to sidechain under one type of ducking. This is as opposed to ducking multiple bus channels.
@djronakdelhi2 жыл бұрын
I have a question : as you bounce out the tracks for ex, you bounced out the kick track , which includes all the kick from the verse , drop ,break ,build etc.. what if i specifically want to mix the verse kick right without affecting the others kick ,how to do that! im really confused what route should we take then

Helpful video, but how do you determine how much you need to reduce the reference track gain please ? Thanks for all!
@alonzodjoficial19 күн бұрын
Not sure if it's still usefull, but get a LUFS meter and match with the master of your project. Generally speaking, in most cases you must turn the reference track by 7 to 12 dB.

@big z Yo, before bouncing to stems are you turning off reverb and delay to any custom fx as well? A lot of time the reverb and delay are what make those sounds. Also, where do you get your reference tracks? I would think that getting a song off of iTunes or KZbin, the mix will be different than when they originally finished the song. So don’t we want reference tracks that haven’t been adjusted yet for streaming platforms? Otherwise I would think if you mix to that and then stream it, it’s going to be mixed for streaming platforms twice essentially……or am I just overthinking this?
