I love Canyon Trail's, I've never even had a TRX4 and I run them on my SCX10 and ECX Barrage. Thanks for all your videos, you're always the most consistent and concise resource for RC stuff like this on the platform; your presentation is so 'up my alley'. I personally wrap rims in some solder like you, then 4 weights, then tight electrical tape around the whole thing; helps re-installing the tire and situating the foams inside. I also love soft wheels; so with all that inside the rim; I got proline soft outers, and cut stock inner foams for dual-stage open-cell foam pliability.

To add to my last comment, I also recall trying 2 oz of air rifle BB's in a pretty much stock RedCat Everest 10 just for fun. That thing climbed like a billy goat! Because the BB's always stayed at the bottom of the tire the truck could almost climb vertical without flipping backwards! It sounded a bit weird though. Kind of like waves crashing over and over as the tires rolled forward.. LOL Couldn't argue with the results though!

actually the canyon tires are no that bad at all ,the foams are the thing to change just out of the box ,something like pro line or laserfoam ,or just add some larger foam ring to this ,it works much better ,or freeze the wheels in refrigerator before closing the rim vent holes with a piece of some tape -air expands and makes nice tire pressure effect ,it works nicely ,i did it quite often in winter crawl/wet conditions

Old racing trick: Soak your tires in WD40. It softens them and makes them incredibly sticky. If you have decent tires already and just want them better...Get the tires wet with WD40, put them in a large zip lock bag with a little more WD so they stay wet. Squeeze the air out and seal. Let them sit 4 to 6 hours and check. For hard crap stock tires let them sit overnight. Sitting overnight will turn them into jelly. BUT, they will get more firm and usable after a few hours so don't get worried. Using a tire treatment like VHT will give you insane traction. (Ever see those drag strip videos where they are walking on fly paper and people lose shoes? That's VHT) It's really designed for track racing but if you are in a competition, it will at least give you crazy grip that slowly goes away as you progress through the course. Even for a trail run, the treatment does prep the tire and make it more pliable etc. Far as I know, there is no downside to running it aside from random leaves getting stuck to your tire. LOL 1/4oz wheel weights with adhesive from Amazon are cheap and work as well.

Baking stinks up the oven and the house your wife or mother will not appreciate that very much, boiling never worked for me, acetone may eat the tire or the wheel and the foam, and their is the method of using a heat gun keep it a few inches away from your wheel and tires work in small sections at a time focusing on where the bead of the tire and wheel are where the glue is. It is ime consuming but works. Becareful not to melt your wheels, wear thick leather gloves, and work in a well ventilated area.

Do you plug off your vent holes while you have wheels apart?
@RCReviewChannel
@RCReviewChannel 5 жыл бұрын
No, we don't plug the holes. We believe they vent holes are essential to prevent air pressure from building up and interfering with the action of the foam. When we run in water, we plug the holes or we drain the inside of the tire and dry out the foam after.

Preheat your oven to 300 then turn it off. While waiting on your oven to reach 300 degrees wrap your wheel/tire in aluminum foil like a baked potato. Put the wrapped wheel /tire assembly in the oven for 15 minutes then pull out of the oven and using a towel so you don't get burned,unrap and pop the tire off the wheel and set aside to cool. You can then wash the inside of the tire and foams and let air dry if you plan to ever reuse in the future.
