I would highly recommend doing a clarifying shampoo and deep conditioning those locs. I always water down my conditioner with locs so it doesn’t get stuck in the hair. Also, stay away from beeswax, gels, and products that put a coating on the hair. They get stuck in the locs and prevent them from receiving moisture.

I have 2C -3B, fine, low density, high porosity hair. I have struggled with dryness, breakage since I was 12 yrs old. I am Caucasian and live in a rural community. I am 45 years old now and in all the years I have only met one professional stylist who has the slightest knowledge about embracing curls. Stylists would "encourage" my hair to be worn straight. Its frustrating.. Its a blessing for me to be able to advocate for myself and find wonderful people like you who is willing to share their expertise. Currently, I am in love with the Shea Moisture High Porosity mask and gel. I also use the SM Moisture Retention Shampoo and Conditioner. I need to add a lightweight, creamy styler. Do you have suggestions? Again, Thanks!!! I am on the right course to loving and embracing my hair!

After a couple of days it's starts to get dry and frizzy even though she has a bonnet on at night. And how long should styles stay in for? Thank you so much!
@GetGlamFam7 жыл бұрын
+Jezlie Rosario the time the styles last will depend on her fabric of hair, my oldest daughters is the same way. I often will must it with water mixed with a bit of aloe Vera just to help out with keeping the moisture balance high. Typically I allow her styles to last between 4days and a week

Linwood you’re a God send! You have a true gift for educating! Question about protein...when wanting to add protein back into the hair, what do you suggest? Not only do I have fine hair, it is thin as well. I had gastric bypass 7 years ago and I only mention that bc I know in the hair world it is common for people who’ve had weight loss surgery to experience hair loss and breakage due to the inability to fully absorb nutrients from food (like PROTEIN!!) I’ve made the mistake of thinking moisture equaled protein in trying to help with breakage and then, well, made my hair into a wet noodle 🤦🏽♀️ I need your help!!!
@GetGlamFam6 жыл бұрын
Excellent question! Ok, so the hair is composed of 20 separate amino acids, with 9 of those naturally occurring. The other 11 amino acids come from our diet. I’ll deal more with that portion momentarily. If you are needing to increase the strength of your hair externally, you can use a quality product line for strength, like “extreme” by redken, or a restorative masque like Shea Moistures restorative masque. Internally speaking, with the decreased size of the stomach, it’s important to consume more easy to digest, protein rich foods. One of the easiest ways to do this is by making a smoothie each day that has a vitamin packed superfood like kale, Irish sea moss, or moringa (in order from least impactful to most impactful) with a bit of fruit for sweetness if you like. Not only are fruits and veggies easier to digest, they are lower in calories, lower on the glycemic index, and many vegetables are actually just as protein rich, if not more so than meats, etc. Navigating through health foods can be difficult, there is a lot of information that has been fed to us in terms of what is best and what isn’t , and one of those things is that “we need to consume meat for protein” which is interesting, considering that most of the animals we consume, are herbivores by nature. When deep conditioning the hair, be sure to utilize a small amount of heat, and rinse your conditioner with a cooler temperature of water. I hope this helps answer your questions! If not, just let me know! Have a blessed and wonderful day!
@elainepalmer68566 жыл бұрын

Well here I go, I found you sometime ago and am so happy as I watch all your videos. Doing a wonderful job helping those who just don’t know what to do with their hair. I really could use some one on one as my hair is gray, as in salt n’pepper. All this time until-watching your videos I have been putting the wrong products on my hair. My hair is thin and fine , always dry and wiry looking. It is upsetting when I look in the mirror. But if I wet it water or gel I have a slick hair look. Where and how can I get a hair analysis? I brought recently ION moisturizer leave in conditioner and the mousse by ION. Been using cremes up to this point. So saying all this to say I am experimenting now that I have found you. Thank you 🙏🏿, thank you 🙏🏿 for your time and effort putting these videos out. You are doing a magnificent job. Excellent teacher just don’t stop what you’re doing. ❤

This is so helpful. I am going to back to cosmetology school in January and I am trying to learn as much from u as I can. I have 1080 hrs and just have to finish. Hi Linwood! QUESTION: Is it normal that my hair needs moisturizing nearly every day? AS INFO: The color-treated section of my hair is high porosity; the remainder seems to be medium porosity. +Tiffany Dixon protein can be very dangerous if you don’t know how to use it, which is why you are finding so much conflicting information with it.
