Agreed! I unfortunately had to leave my 15 PM home to go to work as I had to wait 2 hours over my time for work, and I just got my screen and lens protector on, then started set up, the eSIM swap was quick! I thought I would have to be on the phone forever but it just asked if I wanted to swap sims and now it’s updating and my lovely 12 PM will hopefully be fixed (camera glass broke, needs replacement camera too I assume) and sold to someone else. This phone has done me well, I have always hated the connectivity compared to my Note 9 though. Here’s to the 15 being better!

I just upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro from iPhone 12. Transfer went very smoothly after upgrading to iOS 17.0.2. No data loss in the transfer...even kept custom ringtone. I used the iCloud method, as with all of my previous iPhones. Only minor downside is to re-sign into some of my apps.

Be careful with the iOS version. my 15 wanted to update before transferring my data from the 14. After allowing it to update, the 15 was now on 17.0.2 while the 14 is on 17.0.1 with no update available. Tried to fight it for almost 2 hours to get them to transfer. The part that sucks is that it looks like its working but it wont fail until the very end. (i.e. 25 minutes in) Thankfully the icloud restore method worked, but I usually prefer to do the direct transfer. There are places that don't have unlimited wifi data!

Weird, mine did the update too but it transferred just fine afterwards. I usually do iCloud backup restore method but this time I did direct transfer with no issues. Took about 15-20 minutes.

Seems to be more difficult for me this time around I updated the phone before as well. Transfer time said 4 hours from iPhone to iPhone so I did over the cloud and it’s taking very long. I had to re login to most of my apps and my messages are still not restored yet 🤕

Great content. Just a heads up that if you want to return the 15 Pro and go back to an earlier phone, you can't go back if it is running 17.0.1 since the 15 Pro is on 17.0.2. Restoring won't work until they are both on the same software number 🤬

Very informative video. I was a little apprehensive about transferring an eSIM as I heard last year it was a huge mess getting it set up. I’m considering getting an iPhone 15 and now I’m more convinced it’ll be a smooth transition from my iPhone XR. Hi Just a quick question since downloading iOS 17 i have been having serious issues with my Bluetooth dropping and playing randomly music on my EarPods. I have to go into settings select blue turn off ear pods select iPhone just to get music or alarms through my phone. This is very annoying as i have a diabetic scanner which should update constantly but often it’s lost signal has anyone else experienced bluetooth issues?

5:00 This screen never appeared. There was something about my phone had a setting to not transfer apps and data, and I never got to a "transfer your data" screen. Amazing how not a single article or KZbin video seems to have addressed this.

Another tip. Several times I went to the "Prepare your icloud for new phone" screen under General settings. However, as soon as I hit continue, it froze every time. After messing around with it for 15 minutes, I finally deleted the existing iCloud backup. Then, going back to "prepare..." screen went immediately to the next one, with the notice that I have temporary storage because of purchase of new phone.

The side by side transfer of everything from my iPhone 8 Plus to the new phone went without a problem. It took a 20 minute phone call to my provider to activate the eSim on the new phone. The phones could not connect to transfer my number. Because the 8 has a physical sim? Good video. Regarding photos. I copy all photos to my computer. Then back up on an external hard drive.

Here's a great tip, don't expect your backup to simply reinstall the line app - any backup refuses to install line. Make sure you link the line app within the app so after you download it you can use that linked account to get your account back. Not sure if this is a problem with line or a problem within the cloud backup. Caused me no end of stress as i had already wiped my old phone after backup :(

I’ve always used the wired method of transferring data from one phone to another. You just plug your old phone into your computer, make a back up, plug your new phone, and restore that back up. So much simpler and takes less time than doing it wirelessly.

I would agree but it’s really a hit or miss. I’ve done this in multiple instances thinking it would be the most full proof way, but either the phone or the computer would get stuck in a loop. The wireless transfer or iCloud methods have worked best for me. No issues

I tried iCloud transfer last time based on your advice when I changed to iPhone 14 Pro. Two hrs later and it was still syncing. Not sure it’ if it was working. Eventually cancelled and reset the new phone and used direct transfer. It was done in about half hr or 45mins.

Oh man, I was looking for this video yesterday. I thought transfering data directly from one phone to another was faster than via iCloud. Now I know better. Unfortunately, I started the transfer before watching this video. At the beginning I got a message that my phone number could not be transferred. I don't see anything in the comments about this, but I always do an encrypted back-up to my MacBook Pro, then do a back-up and restore on the new phone. If you use encrypted back-up, it should retain all settings, login, & passwords. I don't bother with iCloud, and never use iCloud. I always back-up to my Macbook Pro's hard drive, then that gets backed up to a Time Machine. I like to keep everything out of the cloud and in my possession.

When you choose to erase all content and settings does that automatically turn off your find my feature on the old phone or do I still need to turn off Find My feature prior to a complete erase? I'm upgrading from an iPhone 11 to an iPhone 15 plus and wasn't sure. I'm trading the 11 in with my carrier and wanted to make sure I did disable the Find My feature.

I went from a 14 Pro to the 15 Pro (eSIM to eSIM). I’m keeping the 14. When I went to erase it, the option to keep or delete the eSIM came up. I kept it the eSIM. Was that the correct option?

I never got the "confirm sim transfer" on the first phone. Instead, the new phone said "Activating eSIM" and that I can continue setting up the phone while the eSIM is activating...strange but the transfer is going through OK
