Permit me to get in my 2 cents: In 1979 (38 at the time) I was diagnosed with HBP and since then I have been prescribed just about every kind of HBP med none of which separately brought my BP under good control long term. Eventually my MD added several meds at the same time, but to no avail. I have done all the ancillary things: my weight is almost never high, especially in the last 12 years during which I did fasting, and although my BP got better, it was never within normal limits long term. 2 years ago that changed (for the better) when I decided to follow some Jamaican "bush" medicine. I made 3 changes: I always eat raw vegetables (and fruit) daily along with my normal omnivore diet. I used moringa regularly which bumps up my nutritional level and also regularly used dried breadfruit leaf tea. I still take most of my previous big Pharma meds. This is the first time that I have had BP measurements consistently 115-125 over 70-82. I am almost 83.

Thank you Dr. Montgomery. You’re a God send. I am a 44 year old black woman with uncontrolled blood pressure. I take 2 meds on time daily. I need to work on my diet and exercise for sure. Also. I need to have a full hysterectomy due to many large fibroids on my uterus and precancerous cells that I had removed on my cervix last year. I will be watching your channel faithfully to work on my issue.

I am 49ers old. I had 26 fibroids, 4 were large and 1 so large it looked like the size of children’s basketball. It created a strain on my heart and I couldn’t breathe when I laid down and it affected my blood pressure. If you can get them removed it could reduce the stress on your heart. It helped me. Other than that I’m learning and trying to do what Dr. Montgomery is teaching us to do. God Bless You.

Thank you Drs. Montgomery, Palmer and Atkinson for your wisdom, knowledge and time. Yes, a raw plant based diet with consistent exercise has changed my life for the better: lost 25 pounds (@140 now, 5’5”), no more hot🥵 flashes: praise God!, no more hives and no more allergies 🤧. Medicine alone doesn’t work.

QQQQQQ: I wish I had doctors as open minded as you about holistically healthing patients and using nutrition, diet, and natural medicines instead of toxic pharmaceuticals. Is there any online portal for finding better doctors in their local area, for those of us that live way too far away to see you?

@@guapodesperado2822. Are you aware that any medical doctor that starts being holistic is considered a pariah? He could talk to 100 doctors and they all just want to do what the government says. Prescribe herbs. He is a very brave man to do what he does. I know an MD who had other doctors laugh at her years ago for discussing natural medicine. It is not as bad now, but still bad.

Not necessarily. Let your doctor know you want to wean off your bp meds. Only do this with their guidance but it can be done with dietary change.

But if dehydration causes hbp...why do they want to give me chlorothalidone as diuretic...I'm so confused. Also confusing is that my resting bp can be 115 systolic or 170 sys...in the same day. I'm eating the esselstyn diet...I make all my meals at home and I'm very strict. I dont have access to infrared sauna so how do you lower bp without sauna

Wow! What I noticed when the automatic blood pressure machine is used, blood pressure always higher but I used the manual it would be 10 to 15 points less. I was told whites are higher reniinagoitensin producers and that's why Beta blockers are better for younger whites. I am doing on a project on hypertension in African american and Carribbeans because noticed blood pressure higher in those population. As you mentioned cultural could be a problem because non black providers don't follow JNC and AHA guidelines when it comes to treating black patients with high blood pressure.

Right, don't take BP immediately when the patient arrives. Clinic officials, I hope you hear this. I have anxiety triggered BP When my BP is taken at the office, it's to the point of an emergency room visit; 160/90 or something crazy. At home BP average is between 115/86 to 138/80 based on anxiety

I wish someone could scientifically address high carb low fat plant based vs high fat low carb keto vs Mediterranean diet/lifestyles. The misinformation and bias is unnavigable and frustrating. What I CAN tell you is high fat low carb, carnivore, keto, etc. does NOT work for me! I get so sick on a pound of beef in a day that I am virtually bedridden. All meat seems to do that, but beef is the worst. I feel MUCH better on plant based, but have a lot of food intolerances and it is hard to navigate when your allergic to EVERYTHING... which is why I "tried" carnivore... as an elimination trial. It did NOT go well. Thank you for your intelligent approach to health and nutrition.
