Making precise realistic offer while being willing to walk away all while being nice is in my opinion the best way to negotiate.

The shorts missed the steps where the manager comes out with the salesman to size you up and tell you why they can't do one of the things you asked for and then wears you down for another hour trying to get every penny out of you. Then they eventually meet your offer and send you to the finance guy where he persistently begs you to take the overpriced extended warranty that you knew nothing about before entering the room. And all the while still trying to hold you to that '5 star dealer experience' you mentioned.

No-Haggle scam: Car comes in. Dealer says, "We provide two accessories needed by buyers in our area." Ah, but what if you are not a "typical" buyer in the area, and you do not want those two things? Nope. No deal. How do I know you ask. Well, the car be ordered was hit by a ladder on the day of delivery. Really! The dealer found a replacement with an additional accessory, plus dealer handling fee. Our cost did not change from the car attacked by the ladder. Our original two adds were put on the replacement overnight, and we were not charged for the third accessory. I know you are saying the 3rd add was chump change. Ok, true. However, we created a bit of a resources issue for dealer. Once we said we would not buy "ladder-car," and wanted a replacement w/i 24 hours, the game changed, the field slanted our way. We know from the original window sticker where they found the replacement. Do we care about that other dealer? Absolutely! We do not give a window-shutter about their deal with our dealer. We know that they believe they will never see that car again. What would happen if they were asked to service that replacement car? I was welcomed with opened arms by the GM!
@negativexmilitia13 ай бұрын
Never tell them you’ll pay cash... Tell them early you plan to finance, get the financing, then pay it off as soon as the loan is serviced. They will deal when they know they can make the money back, and will be more willing when they know they can also sell you a loan. You shouldn't pull out anything this aggressive this early either. Gotta be a regular Joe forna while. And if you want a higher trim car, start with a lower trim, and then get interested in the more expensive one (Thesr are , great, but what is this one I saw on my way in?). Then after they come back the first time with a new deal, start hitting them with the hardcore facts and negotiating. Your time is their time too, so after a while they really need to just make the deal other it's a wasted day. Fully expect to spend 3 hours at a dealer. Within reason, they will start bending more as time goes on. There is a limit where they can't take the price any lower, but they can ALWAYS offer more for a trade in. That's where the reall deal making happens. And honestly, dont expect to deal on anything that isn't a truck in America... That's where the margin and biggest market segment is.
