Wear a cap or hat, also have some type of utility belt or tools on you. Finally no notebook in your hands but if you start talking pull out a small field notebook. Notes or handwritten contact info. You're not a salesman but a knowledgeable tech.

Ya I noticed people were turned off when I would carry a notebook and pen, I got rid of it asap
