I used to work at a retailer that sold Mexican Coke in the bottle, but they didn't have any can openers or anything, since that's not the sort of thing the store sold. Instead, we'd make use of some metal edge banding on the countertops.

Worked in a Coca-Cola bottling plant in the 70's. Everything was bottled in glass. We were allowed our fill from the line. Don't remember how we opened the bottles...

I've seen this when it was part of the full episode but I still find it funny when Lan used the spoon and garlic press, the bottle caps went flying and bounced off whatever surface they hit, then landed on the floor. The first time with the spoon, she had to giggle a little. Still funny, but practical when you either don't have, or it's not available, or can't find the proper bottle opener. I have one on my key chain, but it's getting worn down so does not work like it used to. I also have an older Ecko manual can opener that punches a triangular opening into a can, flip it over and it will pop open beer bottles. It's vintage, from the 70's and the handle is a kelly green plastic. It stays in my kitchen drawer.

I love that they did this! Another tip for restaurant people; if you ever get candle wax on your work clothes, an iron and a newspaper will fix it. Use the newspaper as a buffer for the iron and it will soak up all the melted candle wax and retain it so you don’t have to buy new work clothes or look off. Also if you get a burn at work the juice of a pickle will help keep a blister from forming later better than an ice cube

Use another unopened bottle. Turn it upside down and one lid will remove the other. Fun part is ... you never know which one will open 😎 But she is smiling throughout this because she knows she gets to drink all the open ones now!

I learned to open a bottle with a house key. The serrations get under the edge and your finger is the fulcrum. Best to use a strong and sturdy key like a Medeco or if the key bends you could end up locked out.

That's when you use an OLD key that you'd never use again and Mark it for that purpose.

I've used Vice Grips the way you did the tongs, it's almost as if Vice Grips were made for it. I've also used the edge of a table and hit the top of the lid but it does mark the table.
