First step was intermittent fasting and then Dr Chaffee got me on Carnivore.... and it's shocking how great I am doing. People run into me and keep asking if I've gone vegan (LMAO) when I tell them quite the opposite that I eat more meat in a day than I used to in 3 months they think I'm joking until I say I'm not kidding. When I compete at Tennis with guys 20 years my junior 16 hours post eating they can't understand where I get my energy from while they stuff power bars in their faces or fruit. Never felt better , never get sore, or tired... and don't spend much time on the toilet either! Dr Chaffee is the best at explaining species specific eating and why! Love ya Doc!

Im 58 and just getting going on this adventure. I am 45 days in and going strong. What was your circumstance before going carnivore? I’d love to hear what changes in your health you have had. I did a seven day water fast to start my journey and then transitioned directly into carnivore. I have the classic metabolic syndrome issues. I was 250, Hypertension with two meds that weren’t really working, high triglycerides and a big belly with most of the fat around my organs rather than on the outside. I finally had enough when my breathing started being affected and I saw that it was due to skyrocketing BP, even though I was taking my meds. I’ve lost 17 pounds so far, my BP dropped dramatically at first during the fast, but it has begun to rise again and I get weird spikes of high reading. This erratic behavior is a bit concerning for me. But overall I am loving the changes. I just wondered what you faced over the last year and if you had any of the concerns that I have had.

Another VERY informative interview . Thank you BOTH. As cow/calf ranchers we know the importance of Colostrum to a new born calf within 4 hours of birth. The ability of the Omasum ( the milk stomach which is one of the 4 stomachs a ruminant has and the only one working at birth) loses it's ability to absorb immunoglobulins , igGs , very quickly after birth . A newborn baby calf or foal or lamb for that matter, that isn't up and sucking ASAP for whatever reason , should be given at least one helping of a good quality Colostrum from a bottle or tubed directly into the GI system, for protection and for the huge energy that the " first milk " supplies . It's common sense that all mammals can and do supply this very first essential food for their new borns . I'm so glad that you included this VERY well informed Ob-Gyn on your podcast, Dr Chaffee. Lots of good information from a common sense doctor/ woman/ Mom . ..her patients AND her children are fortunate to have her expertise .

What happens if the newborn calf or foal doesn't consume the colostrum within the first couple of hours?
@albertarancher77802 жыл бұрын
@@prins424 The permeability of the stomach decreases substantially and the newborns energy level drops quickly as it's chances of survival decreases . If it is cold out , the newborn chills and rapidly loses the impetus to get up and suck . Intervention at this point is critical . After 12 hours without appropriate sustenance , chances of survival are slim . It is very cold out , it is unlikely the baby will be alive . We calve out in spring but a 4 hour round the clock watch is essential especially for the first calf heifers .
@alphacause2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this informative comment about how crucial colostrum is for mammals. This bit of information is just another reason why veganism is such nonsense. Colostrum is found in animals. Mother's milk, after all, is NOT vegan. It is coming from an animal - the mother of the child. If we were meant to be plant based, as vegans claim, our first and most essential food should not come from another animal - our mothers. Whether it is a newborn calf or newborn human baby, if we were meant be vegan, our mothers should be able to throw us on some grass soon as we are delivered, and we should be able to get all of our sustenance from verdant fields. The fact that we can't do this is very telling.

The discussion around oral care really frustrates me. As an adult, I have learned so much and altered my diet and hygiene incredibly. But, because of my past, my teeth are in need of a lot of work. Most quotes that I get are around $20 000 to complete the work. That is rebuilding teeth ( my roots are strong ), taking mercury out and capping the ones that need them. Its cheaper to yank them out and have dentures but I don't want that. My husband has them and they are always a problem. Dentistry is just not affordable today but the risks to our body is great.

Oh man, I'm so triggered with deep regret and grief hearing about the C-section screwing up the gut microbiome/innate immunity for my baby! I was so unaware. Unfortunately my obgyn was on vacation when my baby was delivered and the on-call doc was so arrogant and impatient with my slow going labor, He literally told me I wanted to do the C-section so he could go home! Btw, the scar tissue from the C-section messed up my intestines. I'm still healing from it 39 years later.

Thank you Dr. Chaffee for having Dr. Jaime Seeman on your podcast. She is a wealth of knowledge, and she is the living embodiment of the improvements that a woman can make if she just dials in her diet and lifestyle. Women like Dr. Seeman need more exposure because I still see a lot of hesitance among females when I speak about the efficacy of a meat centered low carb. Its almost as if they think eating such a meat heavy diet is not feminine; as if such a protocol should be the exclusive province of men. Seeing a highly knowledgeable female doctor, who exemplifies wellness, advocate for this way of eating will go a long way to disabuse women of their aversion to a all or mostly meat based diet. Marketing and a misguided/corrupted medical community have done quite a number on women, inuring them to the idea that the plant based way of eating is the way to go. The eye opening minute 34:50 - 35:30 of this interview, where Dr. Seeman asserts that a high fiber diet can adversely effect estrogen levels to the point of inducing infertility, is something that every woman should see. Just showing that segment alone to a lot of women who are reluctant to move away from a plant based diet, may make them think twice when ordering a fiber rich salad, thinking that this is some how the "feminine" way of eating.

Stay firm, there are some difficulties at the beginning of the diet, but be determined I've been in transition for 1 year, today 98% meat, maybe I have diarrhea, it's something I still have, from what I've studied it's releasing a lot of oxylate, a type of the toxin that builds up in the body, I'm much better, I'm starting now to recover my physical energy, it's a journey that is worth a lot, a lot for sure, look for quality meat, local producers in this case organic meat, I wish for Determination and Purpose, in your improvement, Warrior, seek knowledge about ancestral health, this is the best way I found of all the diets I tried Success

Had to have stress tests done at the hospital several times because I couldn't hardly keep anything down. White rice and vanilla ice cream helped. I know, that's not good. This was 43 years ago. My doctor prescribed Benedictine; not sure of the spelling. It has since been taken off the market because of birth defects. I never had anymore children because that one pregnancy was awful. I eat very low carb , somedays only carnivore now. Funny thing is I was a big meat eater when I got pregnant. I started vomiting before I even knew I was pregnant. We came across a senior lady who claimed that scents and chemicals messed with her. My wife was her care taker for some time. The lady said she could smell the gas from her hands when she pumped gas just before stopping by. We had to switch laundry detergent and deodorant for her. And we did. It didn't seem to make a big difference in our 20's but we're 40 now and went down the pre-diabetus path. Here we are removing shampoo and use home made soap because my scalp and hand get dry and cracked when using conventional scented commercial soaps. Chaffee is seen as wackadoodle at first by me and others when you mention it. Then when you come across the folks that reversed many problems with it. You say i bet i need to do that. I'm semi-carni, some grains that are fermented. Loaded with butter of course. I can't eat commercial products but if it's homemade it feels good and right. You can tell right away.

He stated that ketogenic diets are actually not good for our gut microbes...our good bacteria because without prebiotics the good microbes starve. Do you have any information you could offer about this...or any studies done on people who have practiced a keto diet and how it affects thier gut microbes. Our gut is 80% of our immune system. My husband was on a vegetarian keto diet and was intermittent fasting. Keto for vegetarians is not really doable in that it is SO hard to get enough protein. My husband ended up losing muscle. But the statement from Dr. William Davis about not feeding our microbes in our gut and actually starving them when on a Keto diet was very alarming to me. Do you have any information about this? Simple answer: By eating meat and dairy products. Detailed answer: The first and most important question is, how do you know how much magnesium is enough for you? The usda recommends roundabout 400mg per day for a grown male, but as it has been mentioned countless times, these micronutrient recommendations are based on animal experiments. Rats have been systematically put on malnutrition until showing withdrawal symptoms, then supplemented with engineered micronutrient replacements until those symptoms start to fade. This data has been extrapolated to the size and weight of a human person. Of course there hasnt been a human trial to validate this derivation, since it'd be considered unethical to starve a human to the point of malfunction for the sake of medical evidence only. But thats the only way to actually find out your personal magnesium demand. Trial and error. Do you feel a lack of muscle endurance and a have a constant tendency to suffer from muscle cramps? Then youre megnesium intake is too low. Do you get the sharts of your life and nausea? Then your magnesium intake is too high. For my personal experience: The amount of magnesium you get seems sufficient. I'm a semi-professional wrestler doing regular shows and training every other day, and fairly big with 230lbs at a 6'4 height. The magnesium I get by eating meat products is enough to sustain my daily routine without issues. But for show days I like to add a half a teaspoon of magnesium sulphate and himalayan salt to my gallon bottles of water because those wrestling matches are really taxing on your electrolyte balance, youre literally sweating your ballsack off in the spotlight.

A very common problem in cats is chronic kidney disease, interestingly wild cats don't get this until they are put into zoos/sanctuaries that feed kibble. I wonder how the cats today fair with their mostly kibble base diet, some live to be 20 and some don't. I've tried to switch my cats to raw but they won't have it 🤷♀️

I soak the "Instinct Raw" brand kibble in warm water for 5 minutes, then mix in a spoonful of grain-free wet food. Try to mimic the 70% water content of a rodent. You could slowly ramp up the moisture over a couple weeks - I hope they like it!

Sounds like more of an electrolyte problem. You need sufficient amounts of Potassium and Magnesium to regulate electrical activity in the heart.

Hi Dr Chaffee In reference to the cat experiment. How does that affect humans as we tend to cook our meat? I'm not sure im ready to eat raw meat 😕
@sunnybadgr50732 жыл бұрын
Cats evolved on raw meat but humans evolved on cooked meat for a long time already (at least 2 million years). The way the experiment relates to humans is that the wrong diet in parents can cause epigenetic damage that takes generations to recover from (assuming those generations are still fit enough to reproduce).
@sunnybadgr50732 жыл бұрын
There are some raw meat carnivore humans but not many. Look at the indigenous tribes, Mongolian horde etc. They cooked their meat. The inuit eat raw meat though.

People are not cats. BTW, one of my cats is quite elderly, and toothless, but she is the most eager to share in my ribeye steaks! I figure I’m extending her life. We converted from feeding kibble to high-quality canned back around 2008, but in the last two years she has lost weight, and I have been concerned. There’s still some pink in my steaks. We took her in, in 2002, and she was about a year old at that time. It’s so cute and funny to see her being a carnivore!

i have already made alot of changes in my life the past 2 years. stopped smoking and drinking a liter of soda a day and eating way less junk and started exercising more taking walks and bike rides. Do you have any tips for adrenal fatigue some say stay away from fatty food and it confuses me because i am scared to make my situation worse. I have not been diagnosed with anything but 2 years ago i started to have major panic attacks. Made alot of changes and it's maby only 20% of what is was but my energy stil is goo one day and bad the next also my period cycle is al over the place and i have muscle twitching randomly that can happen al over my body. i have done blood tests(sugar,thyroid,kidney,vit D) but nothing weird came out of it. i am taking supplements for my adrenals and i am taking a multivitamin and B-complex but no doctor or naturopath is really saying this is whats going on. my gues after 2 years is adrenal fatigue but my doctor just says your kidneys are fine it's in your head it sound like you have a panic disorder here take some antidepressants. but i said no thanks i am not depressed just want to know why my body is responding like it is.

Hello, I was in the same boat as you for many years. I finally saw a massive change in my health, energy, mental state etc., after changing to carnivore. Low carb for a while first, then gradually removing things from my diet one by one. I am now fat adapted and realise that we all should have been eating the healthy fats all along. I didn’t get keto flu because I did it gradually. I do meditation and stretching also, and trying to build up my stamina for walking. I’ve lost fat and gained muscle without even trying. It’s been life altering and I feel better than I have for twenty years. Good luck 🙂 keep watching these channels 👍

Can you touch on animal bases for those who have alpha gal? I have two clients with the mammal allergy from tick bites. How would you approach this with one with alpha gal?
@mamatlacuacha2 жыл бұрын
I'd see an allergist that specializes in reducing sensitivity through minute exposure. Until then, stick to the animal based foods you can eat, even if they aren't the most optimal. Eggs, chicken, FISH. There are tribes that lived on fish exclusively. I'm not crazy about it, but it's not about taste alone or we'd all still be on the SAD.

So would carnivore help someone who has higher FSH, and lower AMH? I have been CV on and off for a while. But on strict CV now and hoping to get pregnant again. Lots of stress and cheating I think led to this decline.

Hi Dr Chaffee. Is the debate with Simon Hill (Plant Proof) still happening or is it basically off the table? (if its not looking like it'll happen, I assume it was Simon who couldn't 'find the time' to make it happen? Since you have actually answered me each time I've asked every few months, while he has ignored me every time). Not trying to stir the pot, but I think its important nobody forgets that challenges were made and accepted, and it would be good to know the status of it, or who backed out of it (since both parties were confident at the time this initially went down)

Good question. I can't find any hard information on it one way or the other. You lose some nutrients by cooking, but others become more bioavailable, like protein, but we've been cooking meat going back at least 790,000 years, possibly 1.5 million to 2 million years, so we are likely well accustomed to the nutrients in cooked meats. Cats, not so much though. They need raw meat.
@mabe25512 жыл бұрын
@@anthonychaffeemd Thank you very much, that makes sense. I enjoy salted raw meats as much as cooked ones and am still trying to figure out which one feels better, i guess i'm going to make an experiment like a period of raw meat only comparing it to a period of cooked meat only. So far i might notice a slightly faster digestion and/or increased appetite on the cooked side, but since i have both in most days it's hard to tell.

@@mabe2551 yeah I think it end of the day just do what works best for you and what you prefer. For me I like cooking my me but I generally just see the outside and keep it rare on the middle, and usually still cold. That's just what tastes better to me, and I've been doing great so far

@@anthonychaffeemd That's how i enjoy most of my cooked meat, too. Probably there are enough nutrients left in there :). Here in germany we traditionally eat raw, salted ground pork called "Mett". I love it and call it Mettformin since it could easily replace any diabetes medication 😂
