One of the best ways to strategize is to use their own behavior. I was in a four year relationship with a narcissist, until he started seeing someone else. When he shared that with me, I saw my way out and wished them well-and got the hell out. He wasn’t expecting that. I had tried many ways to keep me, but I encouraged him as a friend to give the new girl a chance, and was very calm positive about it.

Never ever bother arguing with a narcistic. The best thing to do, if you have nothing to loose, is to say' It's not you is me" and walk out with a smile. Thank you for this-I AM a psychologist and (ugh!) so is he-dragged out divorce for 2 years and victimhood all the way-stole hundreds of thousands from my business-and STILL trying to demand money! He had three attorneys fire HIM during divorce process stating worst narc they’d ever worked with in their careers-but Justice system is ridiculous and so not informed it retraumatizes any one of us going through it and constantly have to even tho narc has new GF every 5 minutes! And their “demeanor/appearance” in court room is so pathetically obvious to those of us who r finally getting it-but “system” people haven’t a clue! I truly understood who narcissist is by Sam Vaknin's work. Sadly there's no cure for the narcissism. The only thing we can is to keep distance. Ideally no contact. They will never change and they'll ruin to you as long as you allow them to stay in your life. They may hover back to you but don't react. My ex cheated on me after 19 years of marriage. I didn't blame the other woman. I blamed him. He decided to go that route. He could have made different decision. He made a vow to me. The other woman didn't. I told him that I had offers from other men while we were married but didn't accept them that I made a point to keep a distance from those men and if I were to be in a room with them I always had someone else in there. It's also showed me who those men really are and some were married. IMO When someone blames the other woman and not their hubby, they need to have a way to not address who their hubby really is. I told my ex when we got marriage that if he cheated it is over. He cheated and I filed for a divorce. I don't play games. It's one of the best gifts that I got from him. You have to decide who you value the most - you or your cheating hubby.

This was amazing to watch. So validating. I could not believe the damage this loser I had dated for three months inflicted upon me years ago and I cannot believe the damage he did to my emotional, mental, physical, sexual and spiritual health. I was at one of my weakest points in life and lo and behold, he swooped in to "save" me. I'm fiercely independent, so it took a lot of faith for me to even give him a chance. 😔Even my parents were fooled! At first. Thank the dear Lord we broke up. I almost ended up in the psych ward. He literally tried to break my mind and he almost succeeded. 😮 It's been almost seven years and I still can't imagine dating. I don't think I'll ever trust anyone again!

I was married to a Covert Malignant Narcissist for 30 years. There's no negotiating with these people as they don't do compromise. I represented myself against his appointed lawyer in the divorce he lodged (he cheated and married a three time married ex-wife of our MC at our wedding 😂.....6 years on its not going well for them) and extended property settlement - 3 years. I am going out of marriage with a younger man (8 years difference). I dont think that they are there too last. Younger generation is also looking for convenience 😊, so I would be careful if I were Tracy. This „solid good guy” will evaluate this relationship in few years time or when he starts earning really big money and he will be gone. I see at least two red flags 🚩 here : (i) he wants to stay inside, ie does not want to show his women to the world, (ii) she is not fully healed yet by dating not mature guy; escapism from guys of her age who are probably perceived by her subconscious as dangerous, but baby lion is always a lion. The time will tell. I would suggest looking for someone at the same energy level than you, not lower.
