Thank you for your video man, it's a lifesaver! As a little remark, people that use AMD's CPU should pay attention to the "FCLK frequency" line in BIOS, it's indicated as "North bridge clock" in Aida64 and should be half the memory speed, so memory running AT 4000Mhz must have FCLK of 2000 otherwise you're losing on performance. After disabling the XPM profile FCLK frequency is being set to Auto and for some reason always stays at 1000 unless you alter it manually (at least it works that way on Aorus x570 Ultra motherboards)

Keep on mind stress tests are constant loads and not fluctuating. In games that's when ram usually fluctuates and the timing might throw it off causing a crash. If it does change your bios settings.

Hello sir I've watched your video and I overclocked my Crucial Ballistix DDR4 3600mhz to 4000mhz at CL 18-20-20-40 would it affect the lifespan of my RAM or will it be just fine? I'm just amazed that I can squeeze out some more speed with my RAM, I've tested it with few games and it's working fine. Thank you sir and more power!

why you increased CPU voltage when you doing RAM OC??? and why you get more timings when less was stable???
@MwaveAU
@MwaveAU 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, there was an on-screen error at 3:14 and the D-RAM Voltage is what is meant to be changed to 1.4V, not the CPU Voltage. Also, the successful boot which we see at 4:35 is running with the CAS Latency of 19-21-21-42. To shorten the video, the first attempt of 17-19-19-40 which we can see at 4:30 was not shown, however it was unstable and the timings needed to be increased.

In case you haven't already, just make sure that you not only run a memory stress test to make sure that your overclock is stable but also test out one of your more demanding games, to make sure that the overclock is stable during a real-life application and not just a stress test.

Oh nice, awesome work mate! Getting RAM with a test speed of 3200MHz and cl16 timing up to 3600MHz and cl15 at 1.35v is an awesome result! This sounds like it should be stable and good for everyday use, just make sure you test out some of your more demanding games to make sure it is stable in real life application. 3200MHz up to 4200MHz is a massive jump and sounds like you got super luck with the specific RAM sticks you have purchased. Would be amazing if it is stable and you can use this overclock in every day use, but it's good to know you can drop it back to 3600MHz if anything goes wrong. Let me know how your benchmarking results go at 4200MHz and how it stacks up against other similar spec'd systems :)

@@MwaveAU they seem to hold pretty well at both frequencies in cinebench r24 and aida64. Even port royal scored higher. The 3600 cl15 will be my gaming profile since most games seem to perfer low cas and the 4200 cl18 is for benchmarking which seems to favors high mhz. The 4200mhz only works when my 10700k is at 5.2ghz. When i get home ill post some benchmark scores and ill game on it tonight for a few hours to test stability of the 3600mhz.

I do have a window open right next to my pc, helping temps a little. I plan to really push this in a week when i chill my cpu and gpu with ice water. These are some really impressive scores, well done mate! Have you looked into overclocking your GPU through MSI afterburner as well or done any other type of OC'ing on it? Be careful overclocking further components as I feel like your system is already flexing pretty hard haha Am also keen to see if your can sustain 4200MHz for a a long period of time, like a day or 2. Once again, proceed with caution but definitely let me know how you go mate :)

Why are you increasing your latency?
@MwaveAU
@MwaveAU 3 жыл бұрын
Hello! As we increased the Memory speed from 3600MHz to 4000MHz, and the voltage from 1.2V to 1.4V, the system automatically increased the latency from 16-18-18-38 to 22-29-29-64 for system stability. Once the system booted, as you could see in the video, the results weren't amazing but this was just a test to make sure that the system could run with the RAM set at 4000MHz and 1.4V. Once we are sure that the new Memory Speed and Voltage are acceptable, we then proceeded to lower and adjust the latency. We went back to the default latency of 16-18-18-38 which although this was not shown in the video, the system was unstable and didn't boot. Adjusting the latency by +1+1+1+2, this process was repeated until the lowest latency was found where the system was still stable. For the Crucial Ballistics RGB RAM, this was 4000MHz ~ 1.4V ~ 19-21-21-42. (Keep in mind that these values will differ depending on the specific RAM being overclocked) In short, the latency is increased for system stability due to the higher memory clock :)
@aronf279
@aronf279 Жыл бұрын
@@MwaveAU My system didnt automatically increased the latency. Its still at 16-18-18-36. I have the 3200 MHz kit and changed voltage to 1.4 V and Frequency to 3600 MHz. System boots normally, but in aida64 the system stability test for the RAM caused a stop with a warning, that hardware failure was detected. What can I check? I checked by myself. 3400 MHz and its running.

No, this is a terrible mistake. If you increase voltage, you reduce the life span of your memory. If you just overclock without additional voltage, well then you are just waiting for data corruption. If that stick was good for that speed, then the memory maker would just sell it with faster specification and at a higher price tag. This is why they have various speeds of memory. Because they test it thoroughly before choosing it's specification. Something you didn't do. PS: 30 years ago, when I begun doing overclocks, you probably had not been conceive to the world yet. At that times, it was done by switching physical jumpers in the motherboard. You are doing less than 10% overclock. I did 60%, in memory, CPU and buss speed, all at the same time. Was it worth it? Sure no, the hardware got damaged in a few months of use.
