Hello Dr. Kamara. Thank you for these tips. They are really helpful. I am a registered nurse/BSN in Liberia, Africa with a little (5 years) of community health - maternal & child nutrition currently seeking admission at NDSU for DNP program (2022 fall). What could be your best advice for me especially that I will be new to the US nursing practice/setting and a black/African DNP student with a poor accent?

Hi Issa, One of the advantages of working in the Healthcare industry is that it is universal regardless of were you are in the world. You appear to be a hardworking individual and that will take you a long way. My one advise will be don't let anyone put doubt in your head about your dreams and aspirations. Always ask questions when in doubt and don't worry about your accent, those who want to listen and understand you will. Good luck with everything.
