This is like teaching a man to fish, because it provides a recipe for rebuilding or “recalibrating” when you lose that confident feeling. That bit at the end about the way to avoid being that guy who shrugs and says “I guess I just didn’t have it today” really spoke to me (how many times have I said that?). I am a 10.8 hcp, and, when I get hot, the feeling is amazing. It’s like I cannot miss, and impact is like a dream on every shot. When I’m cold, every shot feels horrible (though I can usually rely on a decent short game to not blow the card up too badly.) But when I lose the feel, I really don’t know why, or how to get that feeling back. All attempts become so technical and forced. Malaska’s task of getting the right arm to do what it’s supposed to do has really helped me get back on track quickly.

Great job Brendan. Mike is a golf genius and a wonderful communicator! Moe Norman figured out the right forearm alignment with the shaft. If one of greatest ball strikers ever does it, then we should all do it. Thanks for this great series with Mike.

This is so eye -opening , I've played golf almost whole my life , play off 3 and this year seem to be getting worse and worse , been doing the flamingo drill for so long , but once i take up my normal stance its back to right arm coming over the top. Seeing instruction based on my extreme right side dominance , that one handed drill is amazing...

The subtle point Mike makes here that if the task is to get the right arm at or below the shaft through impact and that's your swing goal, the body is going to move in a way that makes it happen. However, it doesn't work the other way around. You can't move your body into positions you'd get into if your right arm is positioned correctly at impact and expect it to work. The potential for injury increases because you're trying to force the body to do what it can't do. The body reacts to the swing. Let it. That's what Mike gets that the golf industry doesn't. He said that this is what he starts with for most people. The other thing he starts with, I'm sure, is clubhead throwaway. Get those two things right and you can play at a high level. Get them precise and you can play with most anyone. Great video.

Thanks Brendon. Mike Malaska is a great instructor. I’ve learned a lot from watching these videos. I’m right handed. If I use my right hand too much in an attempt to add speed, it usually results in a high weak fade. If I think bent left wrist at impact, I find the vertical CG of the club and hit it so much cleaner. I’ll work on the right hand only drill. Maybe that can make me into a two handed golfer.

Love this lesson! I am glad Mike has quit focusing so much on the tipping move. It is impossible to tip it and line the right arm up to the shaft. I have gone through every live lesson mike gave and every player that was trying to get the club back out in front with the tipping motion had the right arm way too straight and well above the plane. The idea of getting the right forearm lined up with the shaft really simplifies the action and removes all unnecessary motion 👌

I’m having kind of the same problem you had on a couple shots here and I lose them right and I assume it’s cuz I’m chasing the ball and not swinging left even though I feel like I’m going left. Quote from 19th May 2018. Malaska Golf 61K subscribers I get a lot of questions about whether your right "throw' or left arm are the dominant in the golf swing. The answer is that it depends on where you're most comfortable. I've been on both sides in my career. As long as you know how your hands work through the golf swing, you can get a gauge on which one has the right feel for your swing. Don't just play golf. Understand it. Watch the complete series at malaskagolf.com.

MIKE MALASKA - I've been watching your videos for about 2.5 yrs and they've dramatically improved my understanding of the game. My question, though, is this: One of the first videos I saw of yours was a video that involved the grip, where you say the left hand should be placed on the club in a natural way...mine being in a stronger position. With the teachings in your recent videos of the right hand/arm movements, wouldn't a stronger left hand hinder the correct path of the right? Wouldn't you want your left hand to mirror the right so it can fold correctly and not impede the right hand's movement? Thanks in advance...Ryan Jacobs / Clearwater, FL

If you were by yourself then it’s okay to interactive as you do but your platform is KZbin. No offense nobody wants to hear from someone like you, we are here for Mike and the topic. Manage your channel and be the “Practice dummy” for the instructor to translate instruction to the body mechanics.
