Toward the very end of your peacock painting, you added very small dots of white and light green. Then the video sped forward and I missed seeing the affect when you added water. Did the added very light colors just lighten up the area? Did you just dot the water brush over the dots? Curious...
@EmilyOlsonArt4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! I actually just added the dots and left them alone--adding water would have made those tiny highlights just disappear.

I have the 60 set of Albrecht Dürer and never use them. I just don’t see the point (ha ha, pun🙄) Your peacock is beautiful and fun to watch you paint it, but wouldn’t it have been faster just to use regular watercolor? I don’t see the benefit of using them. I thoughtI would love my set and saved for months to purchase it, and yet it sits, unused except for the odd sketch (to be eventually painted with watercolor, not the pencils.) I feel robbed of the joy of watercolor pencils.

One nice thing about watercolor pencils is ease of transport, set up, and clean up. You can use them for a wet underpainting, then when dry, use the same pencils dry to get more detail.
@ChristinaTodd19704 жыл бұрын
grannysmithartvideo I've got a Portable Painter set up for painting on the go and I have a little studio area in my kitchen so set up is easy, it's always ready, and clean up is easy too. For ME watercolor pencils don't make sense and seems to take twice as long. I wish I could enjoy them, I spent a lot of money on them, but I don't ☹️

Christina Todd you could gift them to someone you know, maybe? I’m sure anyone who has them would be really happy. Sorry for Bad english.
@ChristinaTodd19704 жыл бұрын
M.C. V.A. I *should* gift them. But for some weird reason I can't stand parting with them. Maybe I'm hoping one day the clouds will part and I'll suddenly see the wonder if the watercolor pencil. 🤔

@@ChristinaTodd1970 Have you tried doing a watercolor painting and adding details with the dry watercolor pencils at the end? The whole project does not need to be only pencil :)
