Looks good Danial I’ve only used otex akva and it’s brilliant with the otex oil world you use it on an exterior exterior oak door thats showing tanning stains also read on one of your other clips you bought a gx sprayer how’s it going
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5573 жыл бұрын
Hi mate. Yes I've used it external on stained windows and it held back the tanning. Smiths and Rogers Blockade is also good or Zinsser B.I.N

Planning on painting my limestone fireplace. Would this primer work good?
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5572 жыл бұрын
Hi mate. Any etch primer will do. If its waterbased I use Haftprimer by Caparol or Otex by Tikkurila. Both are great. Zinsser is more readily available and they do Coverstain or B.I.N or if you want a waterbased then Zinsser 1.2.3

Hi Daniel, I’ve followed you before and I’ve come back to ask if you know what is causing loads of little bubbles in Farrow and Ball exterior eggshell? I’m applying with two fussy blokes 5mm rollers, tried new roller, still doing it. Tried a bit of Floetrol then the maximum 15% of Floetrol. The bubbles don’t pop in time before it dries, ruining the finish. The first few coats I used Zinsser 123, then the f and b exterior primer, then f and b exterior eggshell. I’m using indoors in a bathroom. The Floetrol was first opened two years ago and kept in a garage on a shelf, it doesn’t smell off. I tried the 10mm nap roller, still bubbles. Have I mixed too much air into the products? I’ve let the paint stand for a day or two in between these various coats but I’m racking my brains what it could be???
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5572 жыл бұрын
Hi mate It could be you've done too many coats to quick or the primer hasn't bonded to the surface. I use Caparol Haftprimer nowadays a waterbased exterior etch primer. It may need sanding down and starting again
@beverleyoverton11012 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply, it could well be that. I’ve just seen your video on Caparol Haftprimer and I do have some that I used once a couple of years back once, I forgot about it. I went for the 123 as I sanded through to some mid grey coloured patches, and it says it covers graffiti, no chance, it’s not opaque at all. Can you top coat with branded Farrow and Ball straight onto the Haftprimer layer, as I see it says to topcoat with a PU/enamel topcoat? Would be nice to cut out the f and b primer, thanks mate.

@@beverleyoverton1101 caparol mix Farrow and Ball colours so yes you can use the eggshell in caparol. If you choose Farrow and Ball then they do an exterior eggshell which is tougher than the estate eggshell
@beverleyoverton11012 жыл бұрын
Nice, I will use the Haftprimer and Farrow and Ball exterior eggshell from now on. Cheers again for the advice.

Hi there, I just purchased some oil based Otex to paint some wood. may I ask you,, did you sand after applying it just before applying your top coat ? or is sanding only required inbetween the top 2 coats?
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5573 жыл бұрын
Hi mate. I just denib in between coats with a sandpad

@@danielnugentpainteranddeco557 thanks a lot for the straightforward reply... Just ordered some 240grit for same reason, I may actually apply a second coat of the primer, I am probably paranoid that de nibbling the first coat of primer I may take a little too much off. :)

Great finish 👏 did you clean/rub it down any before you applied the otex? What do you think of the otex ?, since watching your videos I've used a few tikkarula products but not otex , I've also used arrowworthy a lot too 😉

Otex is fantastic gear. I just put it straight on. They mix it in different tones aswell

how does the otex compare to zinsser coverstain
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5573 жыл бұрын
I find it whiter and thicker. Probably can do the same as coverstain. Both great products. Also Otex can be mixed to a colour tone

@danielnugentpainteranddeco5578 ай бұрын
It's quicker to do it this way as my sprayer is hassle to clean and the masking up aswell. I am looking at the handheld cordless battery sprayers maybe for these type of jobs
