I do like that you showcase the mistakes you make and how to fix them. It is very common for people to be so afraid of failing that they don't even try even though most problems are easily solvable.

Yup! That's why I have been leaving them "oops!" content in the vids so people know I usually make mistakes lol.

You hit the nail on the head. Comic-booky is precisely the way I would describe the high contrast look you are achieving with the white and black lining. And as long as you are happy with it, keep it up. It also gives your models a district aesthetic, which is always good. Keep up the great work. Awesome ork, awesome vid.

This is much better than the last 2 ork tutorials. Even better than the older Deathskulls one which was my previous favourite. Really great.

Man, I've been thinking of getting into adding an airbrush to my mini painting and stumbled across your stuff in my research... as an avid ork player, i just have to say, you earned a right proppa WAAAGH!!! for this work here. Im not normally a big fan of blood axes, but you got me thinking of starting a side project with that theme after watching this video. awesome stuff man, keep up the good work!!

GOD DAMN!! Your painted mini figs always looks so good, the quality is perfect! I wish you would have those high quality photos that you use to have at the end of the video. A model that good deserves a proper photo instead of a quick hand held view of it.

this video was insane. I've never seen someone use varnishes between layers but that final result sure speaks for itself. love your work!
@Tremadog10210 жыл бұрын
Great video. I like that you use a wide variety of techniques in this video. Weathering pigments,oil paints, water colours... It makes me want to try being a bit more adventurous in my own painting. The idea of applying varnish at different stages of the model makes sense. I've only bothered using varnish to seal models when I'm finished. Your video shows there is more uses for them than is initially apparent.

I think the use of many washes in a splotchy pattern was really brilliant, as it gave the metallics a sort of chemical-dipped affect that a lot of hand-forged metal objects have on them when they're pulled out of the cooling/hardening solutions, and the brown camouflage color scheme looks really, really good with it.
@house33448 жыл бұрын
Well done, really cool. I don't use an airbrush and I see that painting with different techniques can change a lot.

Absolutely stunning! I really like the effect you achieved on metal areas using oil paints. Actually i've been using humbrol enamels + artistic oils for many years before switching to vallejo, thanks to your vids, but I was always mixing diffrent metallic shades instead of simply painting shadows with black oil paint. Very useful tip!

As always thanks for the video. Do you happen to have any idea as to why my oil washes dry choppy and gritty instead of a smooth line? When I am pin washing the line looks super smooth and solid but it dries all broken up and not a consistent line. Sometimes there won't even be a line at all anymore!

hah! Finally, someone using a small reservoir AB for mini painting. I use an HP-A, which sits on my bench all the time; one of my fav brushes for its versatility and ease of clean up. Mix up custom colors all the time similarly. This is a great tool to have sitting on your bench. If I could, I'd paint entirely with an AB, but certainly not efficient to do so. :)

I never thought to use water color paint, nor have I ever heard of it. I liked the finish it gave. I don't have an airbrush setup though, so would I be okay brushing on the gloss varnish? Or am I better off getting canned gloss varnish?
@LesterBursleyMiniatures9 жыл бұрын
Anthony Adamczyk Thanks! The brush and water based varnish will reactivate the dry water colour so spraying is best after. A can would work fine but wait 24 hours until you paint over the varnish.
