If I ever go for the strike force Ultra formation.. I'm so going wit hImperial fists. Love their yellow color scheme. Also, when I drop from the sky with terminators I feel justified in yelling: "NOT THE BEES!! AARGH! NOT THE BEES!! MY EYES MY EYES! AAARGGHH!"

Good idea for that first layer of grey on the black. Saves me having to make my own mix of 50/50 chaos black/codex grey

looks great, but why not start with "Averland Sunset" to help with doing less layers of "Yriel Yellow"?
@TheApatheticFish9 жыл бұрын
Correct. But it should be almost the same. Because the base is light you would need 2 or 3 layers of averland sunset and then another 3 or 4 of yriel yellow. And would pretty much end up in the same ammount of layers IMO. I tried to skip a step but it would help to gradually get to the color if you want. But I think that it would be easier to get the colored primer and just give it a couple coats to make sure is even. I didnt have the budget for buying the primer so I add lived it.

Ah such lovely plastic art as usual, enjoy your work very much!

The only issue you had as you mentioned was your base you could also use a base paint yellow over the grey primer then stat doing the layers of the yellow you want. Minor but would have saved you time instead of 6 layers covering grey. Other than that nice set up for yellow.
@TheApatheticFish9 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I tried to skip a step. But the end result turned out pretty good and I didnt want to trash the whole tutorial because of it. Instead I tried to share my experience painting it and I believe a yellow primer will make it so much easier.

simple yet effective. For all those who find yellow annoying, but would like to spend more time on them, use layers of skrag, brown as a shadow in several thin layers.

Good video but don't mislead, the spray colors from citadel are not primers. They are meant to go over rattlecan primers. :)

Do you have a trick to get to the mesh at the hips? Just about every time I try to get at that spot on a marine I always end up splashing black on the thigh.

Do it first then neaten up the base coat around it. That or have a really thin brush

Wonderful model. Might I request a blood angel death company next? all that black and grey. it kills me

Have you tried mixing your yellow with Glaze Medium or Lahmium Medium? I use a 50:50 mix and it covers almost in one coat over a white or bone color primer/base coat

Absolutely fantastic with the always challenging yellow. Have you ever used the Army Painter primer? I tried the Wolf Grey and it came out all powdery so I've stuck to black or grey to keep it simple. My vote is for Iron Hands next!

Ive tried army painters dragon red, green and blue. I like them for tabletop miniatures and I use the red a lot because i have a chaos khorne army. Its pretty good but not the great for professional painting
@onegrumpyboi9 жыл бұрын
Fair enough, do you spray the army painter straight to plastic, or use a primer first?
@WAcrobat192 жыл бұрын
i bet this info is really obvious for you now, but Averland Sunset should be put first, *then* Yriel Yellow will be added. It takes up less coats, probably 4 instead of 6, and is more stronger

Great job dude. Did you try undercoating with Averland Sunset first? It's a base paint and as such lot better at covering than Yriel Yellow, which is just a layer I believe. Either way, excellent job, and I will be using this scheme for my new Fists army. I shared your video to my fb group, Sentinels of Terra, which is for all Imperial Fists players and their successor chapters!
@TheApatheticFish8 жыл бұрын
Arend Barneveld No. I admit this was a mistake on my part. I should have used white primer at least or averland sunset before yriel yellow. I thought it would cover the light grey primer well but yellow paints dont have strong pigment in general

How many marines does the average little pot of paint cover? Use the base coat as an example, in this case, the Yriel Yellow? If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated (first time buyer)

Sean Gough if u do it right probably about 10-30 depending on the thickness. Highlights last about 300 years so I wouldn't worry about those so much

It's not hard work coating in yellow, just use a base paint like averland sunset.

Not to be overly critical for the free content but what are you doing with your channel man? I initially subscribed to you because you provided how to's on many different models using different techniques. However it seems as of late you are painting the same guard models over and over just using a different color scheme. Strange direction imo.
