Watched it twice. Fascinating and beautiful to see how the painting evolved layer after layer.

Thanks, Kim. That's aldo the whole point, different styles, different artists. Most people only know the usual suspects, while there are so many other great or interesting artists. Enjoy, Albert
Thank you for creating these videos! Many artists can learn from your techniques. Keep up the good work!

Hi Albert. I really like this loose style with lots of layers. It certainly wouldn,t look the same done without little bits of the underlayers peeking through. Here,s one to try, see your pallet when done with this painting torn the pallett onto a new peace of paper and move a bit. Take it 0ff and see what you see in the morning. I often do this to start the next painting. Thank you

Hi Just Sayin, thanks. I took a detour but as you said all the layers work together. And thanks for your suggestion, I know the technique and use it for different purposes. It is on my list of video ideas for the coming weeks. Bye, Albert

Great piece, Albert. You've used the technique of layering to great effect. I have nothing but the greatest respect for painters who encourage and guide others to paint. Your videos are a wonderful mixture of art tuition and and history. Many thanks. Stay well. 👍

7:47 actually I love to watch your process, the way you gradually experiment to adjust the things you’re less happy with. That’s more interesting and enjoyable to me than watching someone who is happy with their first choices.

Hi Jo, thanks. I miss all sorts of technical knowledge but this doesn't have to keep me from trying. The process is almost more important than the outcome to me. Albert

I especially enjoy the insight you provide to the different artists and the process of creating an abstract painting. I found this video quite interesting and would like to see more videos of this type. Have a good day. Roger

I like how you create the background first. I can’t imagine doing it any other way. I also like how do you mix your own dark color without using the color black. I think that is much more interesting looking. I can’t believe I have just recently discovered your channel. What you teach us is amazing.

@ImperfectPaintings5 жыл бұрын
Hi Rebecca,, thanks. When to stop is always difficult, I still don't know it. You can look at someone else painting and decide for yourself when he or she should stop. When they continue painting you find out if you were correct. Have a nice day, Albert

I found your channel because I googled “how to paint like Paul Klee”. Now you opened some doors for me. Thank you. How can I find out more about the materials and techniques you use?

One word to describe you is "unihibited" you just flow through a painting with ease and certainty. I am so different...you know. I have to make things difficult lol. You paint and I feel relaxed.
@ImperfectPaintings2 жыл бұрын
I had to look it up, LOL, and now see what you mean. If often paint without a clear focus, goal or plan. It's more fun and more relaxed to me, also because I can arrive somewhere else and still can be happy with the outcome. Perhaps give it a try? Albert

May I ask is the paper you use acrylic paper or watercolour paper and what weight is it? Thank you for your videos.
@ImperfectPaintings4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, it is 200 grams allround drawing paper, not watercolor. But don't mix your paint with water, it will ruin the paper. It also known as academic drawing paper. Hope this helps. And thanks for commenting. Have a nice day, Albert
@peternaughton33014 жыл бұрын
Hi Albert, you really make it look easy. Could be Turner or Whistler in there at times. A question.....Are you using a bristle brush here, as in non synthetic? Apologies if that's a stupid question. Forgot to say thanks once again for sharing your process. And much of your students work over the series shows it. Warmth for the soul. Peace.
@ImperfectPaintings4 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, thanks. It's not the best process to show because of my color choices to get there, but I do get where I want, perhaps that's interesting too. I use very cheap brushes most of the time. A 40 mm spalter, some 2-3 euro. It's made of pig hair. It's a bigger brush so you start of making bigger movements and paint, instead of drawing with a small pencil. Don't hesitate to ask your questions. Hope this helps. Albert

James Ensor no fué expresionista.
@ImperfectPaintings2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Federico, for the extensive art lesson. I agree on your statement about Marianne von Werefkin and Gabriele Munter. Often there is hype, ego or money at play that has an influence on what we see, hear about or is remembered. In art history just as in history. I enjoyed making a painting, that's my main reason to look at art, to try to see if it is a certain style is intetesting to work in. Have a nice day and thanks for dropping by, Albert
