That is actually called wattle, and is the national flower of Australia. You will never ever hear it referred to as mimosa here.

you are correct @katehobbs2008. wattle is Acacia pycnantha, most commonly known as the golden wattle, is a tree of the family Fabaceae. Mimosa is legume and calked touch me not. Superficial resemble to wattle. It is a shrub , flowers are yellow or mauve . en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimosa_pudica
