Thank you, this produces such a great effect! Having played with it a bit, I now swap out the deathguard green & flash gits yellow 2:1 mix for just a straight out the pot Elysian green - which is pretty much indistinguishable.

I really love these tutorials, especially over the GW ones. I feel like those tutorials are made to sell paint, since every single part of the model is painted with a different color. This Ork skin would have been made with like 8 different paints, two GW brand thinners, and one of each base brush in a GW tutorial.

What a great tutorial! This is a very similar basecoat recipe to the current 'Eavy Metal recipe of 1:1 or 2:3 Averland Sunset/Skarsnik Green. Love how to-the-point and easy-to-follow your videos are. Any beginners who are intimidated by mixing or want a close-enough singular paint, you can use Elysian Green for the basecoat and get similar results.

if you mean working from darkest to lightest? if thats the way you work then go for it. Your proabbly not going to get the same resaults though. I also feel that would be much harder work. I find starting with the mid tone means we have more control over shading and highlighting.

What’s a good alternative to seer grey? Or is there a base that I can apply by hand with a brush?
@TableTopReadyYouTube
@TableTopReadyYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
honestly, you can use what ever undercoat you have, just know that you may have to do more layers is all. I chose the death guard green because its a base colour so gives you good coverage. I just chose grey seer because I like brighter looking miniatures. If you are going to paint a primer on to your miniature just make sure to give it a clean with some soapy water using washing up liquid, this will get rid of any release agent that's used, then the paint will stick better :D good look

The GW basecoat Orruk Flesh seems to be very close to your ork flesh mix. would you recommend Orruk Flesh (GW basecoat). Thanks!
@TableTopReadyYouTube
@TableTopReadyYouTube 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve done a video using orruk flesh as well and compared both. My mix is more on the warm side and orruk flesh is colder. Also if you check out some of my other Ork tutorials I actually use both in different ways. It’s all down to personal choice 😃

The new "Orruk Flesh" base paint is really close to your homemade "Ork Skin" color, so that may be worth looking into. I personally find that "Base plus Shade" is often plenty of detail for normal miniatures. I don't see a need for layer paints in most cases, except for highlights
@TableTopReadyYouTube
@TableTopReadyYouTube 2 жыл бұрын
I actually have a video comparing the new orruk skin with my mix. I do like to use both and I use both in my other tutorials as well to show people lots of different ways. There is a benefit to re layering and it gives you the opportunity to beaten up. But a lot of the time, as you say, it’s not always needed.

I have just ordered the paint needed for this, but I'd like to know how you measure what half of the pot is, and do you use up half the pot first?
@TableTopReadyYouTube
@TableTopReadyYouTube 2 жыл бұрын
Orks don't measure :P I just kind of eyeball it to be honest. its not going to make a huge difference if its more or less, its okay to just estimate. you can pore from a fresh pot or a pot that you already have.
