I find that painting people/objects this way is not only enjoyable, but also produces really nice results! Perhaps because less time is spent on unnecessary details... Also leaving the white of the paper for highlights makes most paintings "pop"! Thanks so much for your insights on this, and all your videos, Liron.

Learned a lot Liron. I’m always so scared to start such subjects because I couldn’t figure out the sequence of the washes. I was stunned at how well the highlights practically painted themselves. I feel I could give it a go. Btw - the rope thingy on the horse is a halter.

Excellent tutorial. The results were so realistic with the minimal brushwork as is the hallmark of great water colorists. You used a far darker tone for the skins of the figures than in the photo which works just as well. But I wonder why it couldn't be a little warmer

Thanks for making the alla prima videos. I'm working through every one I can find. I have a few questions. First, you're painting from photos. Do you have any videos where you go outside and paint en plein air? Do you go outside and paint some random person looking at the ocean or sitting at a café? How much harder is it to paint a live scene? Will you teach us?
@LironYan2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! 😊🙏🏼 Happy this helps. I have a playlist of me painting outside, but it’s been a while since I did that, and should definitely film some new ones soon. You can check it out here: kzbin.info/aero/PL4RPz8RY0GsNTwaPnFKfxakAhMGEw-H4b Hope this helps 😁

@@LironYan Thank you. I will watch the videos.I've started trying to paint people outside, but it's not easy. My plein air paintings, so far, don't look anything as good as painting from a photo. That said, painting outside is more fun than painting inside--and you always meet people.

@@LironYan haha … i can imagine. but isn't it like extra skilly to be able to mix up nice colors within the mess? personally I think it makes the mixed colors more interesting. I inherited a very messy palette of cheap children's watercolor from my dad and I just love to mess it up more, creating colors while always trying to avoid too much brown haha

Liron, you asked me how my alla prima figures went. Well, just finished a girl meditating, my first try using Pixabay. It worked!! I'm quite pleased with it. Thank you so much. I finally got those highlights which illuminate where the light is hitting the object. The key thing is using very dark darks. Tone values again. You artists emphasize it so much.

I would like to see u direct paint without making a pencil drawing first. when I do it sometimes I "draw" with a light yellow paint,and then layer on top of that, but I am interested in other no-pencil direct painting strategies/techniques. not too many videos about it out there

Why?
@gautambarua82605 жыл бұрын
Watercolour is a difficult medium as it is and to go about it without a pencil guideline would be asking for more unwanted trouble. Besides pencil lines add to the beauty of a watercolour painting. Of course I just my view.
